  7. Sticky Thread Sticky: Umbrella companies 'expenses policy' changed

  9. Chased by HMRC after using Giant

Hi, I worked through the umbrella company, Giant, for around 8 months but became so frustrated by the fact that they wouldn't pay me on the same day each week, as well as abysmal customer service, that I decided to leave and just get paid directly by the agency through whom I'd secured the job....

  10. Rather stunned, need help

Hi all, been researching umbrellas as potential employers are asking for this. The lowest quote I can find is £404 a week on a day rate of £112. That's £70 a week less than standard employers PAYE. £70 a WEEK! I'm horrified. How has this been worked out and surely umbrellas don't charge £70 a week...

  13. Stay away from Payerise Umbrella

I joined them after recommendation, looking for a PAYE payroll service. They said I had to be taxed at 42% as a high rate earner. 18. Danbro - cracking pension/childcare scheme

Been searching for a while. Some umbrellas are crap for pension and only do the minimum - the rest has go in via AVC so you negate the NI saying. Danbro let you treat all pension contributions as employer contribs. So you're saving ALL the NI (inc employer NI I think?). Same with childcare...
