New "outside" contract, modest rate increase on existing.
I suppose I should feel euphoric but I actually feel exhausted and stressed, it's not easy finding outside contracts at the moment and the thought of going permie or inside makes me nauseous - I may be allergic.
“ In a report, the think tank says that higher unemployment, falling incomes and the risk of more restrictive lending will hinder first-time buyers. If the average first-time buyer loan-to-value ratio falls to 80 per cent, as it did in the wake of financial crisis, by 2024 the typical number of years...
6 month gig, 4d/wk, 30% lower than my normal rate - was supposed to start 1st July now delayed to 6th as laptop only arrived today - better than Furlough :-)
Old client might take me 1d/wk for rest of year too :-)
When I found myself stuck in hospital at the start of December, my contract was due to end in early January. An extension had been on the cards, but as the heart surgery meant I'd be unable to work until the end of January at the earliest, ClientCo naturally had to start looking elsewhere.

Back at FenlandClientCo, three days a week (which is what I wanted if WFH wasn't an option), three months initially, fair chance of some more stuff after that
And as they left the start date up to me, I'm going to take next week off to readjust...
I am sure the tag cloud has got smaller since the last time I was boomed...
Just accepted an offer which was "direct" but forced through an agency (payroll handling margin), so I though the rate was good until I found out the contract is inside IR35 and I was informed by others...
Urgent requirement, interesting from a technical perspective, start Monday, reasonable commuting distance from home but at an away-from-home rate? That'll do nicely
Current contract ends on a Friday and the new one starts the following Monday. I was holding out for a potential in Leeds as it is closer to home but at the end of the day only the London job was on the table and despite the assurances of the...
On a Thursday about a month ago I was informed that due to budget restrictions they could not keep me on any longer.
I start conjuring up plans for being idle for one or two or three months.
On Friday the day after a different part of the organisation calls and asks for my availability...
Finishing contract at the end of the month and going straight onto another one with an even higher rate and about 30 mins closer to home. There will be occasional travel to london covered by the clientco - something I am actually quite excited about as it means I can work in the financial...
Another two months and ClientCo while they try and replace their third party hosting supplier and move "to the cloud" slap bang in the middle of the 90 day warranty period for the biggest release of the service in two years.
Happy to say have reduced the gap from the winter 11 weeks down to 5 weeks - new gig from Monday 2nd June.
For me the ideal gap between contracts is 2 weeks after that my "productivity" on my personal to - do list plummets! Mind you in this bench period I have enjoyed every...
Client#1 eventually got their proverbial finger out and are mailing the PO's - direct, WFH, fixed price, one month with the likelihood of another 3 months after that looking more promising by the day.
6 more months at clientCo - takes me to end November. That'll be over three years - think I might have to bite the bullet and call it quits after this one...
I don't mind being off Easter to May day - hope I can keep the gap no longer than that: Main CV updated, 2 more versions being updated, job board searches re-activated and trying to figure out how to turn off jobserve "job suggestion" which...
Got turned down for a gig I really had my heart set on on Wed, but yesterday won a gig on the back of one of those pesky telephone interviews I was on about recently.
Also, got the agent to take on the PCG contract template, and he's using the client side one too which he thought was...
