  2. Amazon music users... Is it just me or...

... Is the app really unintuitive? I've got it on android, desktop, iPad and even their own Fire TV and I am always fighting it. For example: I like to listen to albums. I can easily see a list of all my albums... Great. Now let's say I want to pick an album from a specific genre to help me...

  3. An HTML/DOM page scripting question (like GreaseMonkey)

Chrome has a very neat feature that for downloadable MP3 links, it can open a new tab with a minimal player to save you downloading. Turns out they create a <video> element in a tiny HTML page and set the source. But they don't set the size of the element so it is very small, which makes the...

  4. Cloud Contact Centre Solutions

I've been tasked with purchasing one of these for a small call centre and I'm starting from a position of not knowing a thing about them whilst observing that they are about 5 billion on the market. I've looked at a couple of market leaders who seem to want about 140 per user per month which...

  6. Dell Optiplex

Can anyone recommend a supplier of used Optiplex's other than the tat market that is eBay? I figure that the best way to build a budget gaming rig is an Optiplex with a Graphics card, but simply cannot be arsed withe Fleabay. They seem to be significantly cheaper in the UK than Germany, on...

  8. Moon on a Stick music player

What do folks use for organising and listening to your digital music collection? My ideal feature list would include:- Play most music format files, including FLAC Rip CDs to a lossless format, get metadata from the cloud and auto-organise into folders based on artist and album Import...

  9. Basic coding and git commands on an iPad

Following on from my foray into Dec work, a lot of the time I have my iPad with me rather than my MacBook, especially when I am away from home. I could ssh from the iPad to a server and make any light coding changes through something like VIM but I like using a proper text editor, especially...

The tech to detect ad blockers and whine and deny access is getting more widespread. Are there any blockers that can't be detected by these very annoying websites? TIA.

Where do people get glass panes from for their greenhouse. I assumed you would just walk in B&Q or Wicks but no. I know some of you like to potter around your greenhouse, so where do you get em from?

  14. Cheap/Best Value VM host

I have a few VM's running on my Mac Mini, but want to hive them off onto a dedicated machine so looking for recommendations for a cheapish (it's being paid for out of my pocket rather than MyCo) setup, the storage component will be handled by my existing NAS, ideally I'd like something I can start...

  15. Downloading from YouTube

Hi, There are some instructional videos on YouTube that I'd like to download to watch on the train (milling machine operation before you ask). There are lots of apps that do this, I don't mind paying for one but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Ta.

  16. NAS or MicroServer (or ???) for centralised home digital media

Following on from my previous thread about getting HiFi stuff, I bought a traditional separate setup augmented with Google Chromecast Audio (with more CC for other rooms) instead of going Sonos. I didn't buy a CD separate as I reckon it's not much difference in price to have a digital library...

  17. Desktop left out in the rain

Long story, but any tips? Plan to encase the desktop in a blanket with lots of silica gel packets. It would be nice if the desktop still works but the HDD is my priority, so going to remove it then dry it off and connect it to a laptop via a Sata to USB cable. Thanks VC

  18. Clone a Mac Book Pro HDD to a SSD?

My son wants his Mac Book Pro HDD upgrading to an SSD (around 2013 vintage, i7 CPU, 8Gb RAM, 750Gb HDD). I already did the HDD > SSD swap recently on a very similar Win 10 machine using Crucial's flavour of Acronis software that simply worked a treat. But it doesn't (I do not think) work on a Mac....
