Sunny start, but not going to be as warm as that might suggest: currently a mere 11°C, and though it's expected to reach 20°, that's only for a brief spell mid-afternoon. The barometers are up a little at 1004/1012mB
That was explicitly mentioned as a reason why it couldn't be a Friday!
Tonight's viewing was more fare dodgers. I think the most amusing ones are those who claim they have a ticket or railcard but they "can't get a signal" and so on as they fiddle with their phone for several...
I sometimes buy these mini-naan from Sainsbury's, thinking I'll eat less that way. But all that happens is I have two of them, which I'm pretty sure ends up equating to more than one normal-sized naan
Monday Links from the Gap Between Teams Meetings vol. DCCCXIX
When I finished work on Thursday, I had no meetings today except the morning standup. Yet somehow I've been in meetings virtually all morning, and don't have time for lunch yet because there's another one in a few minutes. Good thing I was able to get this choice collection of reading matter assembled...
Sunny start, with some white fluffy bits hither and yon, and expected to continue so all day. It won't be as warm as yesterday though: 13°C now, 19° for a while this afternoon. The barometers are up again at 1002/1010mB
Tonight's viewing, as was foretold, has been Battle of Britain (1969) and the BBC had, in fact, got a better print than Amazon had managed. IIRC Amazon had also somehow managed to mess up the subtitles, such that whenever there was a scene in German (and there are quite a few) it was necessary to turn...
I see Battle of Britain is on iPlayer, though only until Wednesday afternoon! I watched it on Prime a while ago, but it was a poor quality print with a lot of scratches and so on. I assume the BBC will give us something of better quality, so I might watch it again tonight
I'd probably be a bit warier of seafood, but if it tasted OK then you'll probably survive
I got the emergency alert at 15:01; somebody on Bluesky said they were in a pub and while some people got it bang on 15:00, others were getting it at thirty second intervals over the next few minutes....
For lunch, a pork pie that I'd forgotten about until I found it behind something in the fridge last night. Its Use By date was yesterday, but it tasted OK so I'm sure I'll be fine
The instructions say such things should have the air squeezed out of them first. So I chucked it in one of those vacuum storage bags and hooked Henry up to it, and there's definitely no air in it now ...
There's quite a bit of rather wispy cloud about but the sun's getting through the gaps and thinner patches enough for it to be considered sunny out, albeit in a slightly muted way. Going to be rather warm too: it's already 18°C and will get up to 23° this afternoon....
The towels have been successfully washed and dried. I've now activated the "rinse out fluff" program, as there seemed to be a minor accumulation thereof
Cloudy day, though some patches are thin enough to have a slight blue tint showing through. There's going to be a brief attempt at a heatwave this weekend; it's already 18°C and aiming for 21°, with 24° expected tomorrow, failing back to the teens on Monday. The...
