Tonight's major motion picture premiere was The Witch, a Korean film in which a young girl escapes from a secret research facility and is taken in by a farming couple. Ten years later, she enters a TV talent show and is recognised. It's good, this. Bit of Jason Bourne, bit of John Wick, and some Matrix-style...

Tea has been Sainsbury's "hog roast style" pulled pork shoulder with apple sauce and stuffing balls, with chips. I bought the pork thing primarily because it was on special offer (aka Nectar Price) to me in particular, and it sounded worth a try. It was pretty nice actually; don't know if...

Something weird to do with the cacheing, I think. As far as I can tell, we have a choice: use the database for cacheing and have the forum regularly grind to a halt, or use memcache and have that oddness with the menus and so on happen occasionally
There is one more thing that...

Definitely crows - I've had the binoculars on them before
The crows were back, browsing either side of the big lawn, while a squirrel was wandering around halfway between them. I thought it might be a different squirrel, but it casually worked its way round until it was close to one...

Incredible scenes! One of the crows just chased one of the squirrels (presumably the same one as they've previously argued with) all the way from the larger art deco block, across the drive, and across the big lawn until it scampered into the relative safety of the central flower bed, under the roses...

Morning denizens
Grey day again, and also fairly mild again, being 11°C with a promise of 14° for a bit this afternoon. The barometers are down a bit more, though again not very significantly at 1012/1020mB
I had a nice lie-in sans any kind of alarm or scheduled...

Tonight's viewing started with a new Traffic Cops
And then the major motion picture premiere was Apple's The Instigators (2024), a decent enough yarn involving an attempted heist on a corrupt Chicago mayor which, inevitably, goes wrong in various entertaining ways

Tea has been homemade sweet & sour pork with fried rice
This marked the first outing for my new rice cooker. It does a considerably better job of cooking rice than I've ever managed

Morning denizens
The weather app claims it's "mostly sunny" but the reality is that it's completely grey and a tad misty. Mild at 9°C heading for 14°, and the barometers are down a little - but not so much that it matters - at 1015/1023mB
Happy Samhain...

Tea was quite late tonight due to me being disorganised, so no further telly. But I read a bit more of Casino
Thursday tomorrow!
Goodnight all

Tea has been pork cutlet with chips and beans
Accompanied by the final part of Inside Barlinnie. Some very interesting stuff about the special unit they had for the absolute worst people in the 1970s and 1980s, where the prisoners and staff ran the unit in collaboration and it was...

I see the news in the sidebar is updating
The funny thing about that is that it could have been working all along
When admin (of blessed memory) and I set it up some years ago, I had it working by fetching the CUK main site's RSS feed and updating with any...

Two birds, one stone: went for a walk round one of the various blocks available to me, and dropped off the recycling at the place of bins on the way out
It's getting quite misty out

Morning denizens
Grey start out, albeit dry. Still quite mild at 9°C with an expected 15° by lunchtime, with the barometers up a chunk at 1017/1025mB

If that ever happens, I'll check the logs to see if it caused any problems ...
