    LFT: still positive!

At least it took a little while to show this time, rather than lighting up bright red before the sample had even reached the control line the way it has been

    And I've also got toothache

Well, it was more letting it rumble away on the screen in front of me and tuning in and out mentally as and when it seemed more or less interesting ...

    Morning denizens

Had a great night's sleep, having decided to set no alarms. I first woke up around eight, I think, but then woke up more properly about twenty past nine and felt really refreshed - and not particularly ill either

    Today's temperature is 37.2°C,...

The car earlier was basically a Ford Sierra, but actually some odd variant made for the American market called a Merkur. The opal hunters had their usual ups and downs; one other distinction of note between them and the gold diggers is that a number of the opal people are often clearly a lot poorer...

    Tea: sausages, beans and chips

After a cautious sniff, I took a chance on sprinkling a very small amount of vinegar on my chips. It turns out it still doesn't taste quite right, but it wasn't a problem

I know it's not mandatory any more, but I just think it's better to avoid spreading it around if I can, and the old rules seem like the best guide to achieving that. For all I know, I'm the only person in Leicester who's been to London and caught this variant - I don't want to be the local equivalent...

Lunch has been a bacon cob

And the virtual paperwork for my extension to the end of September has come through at last!

    Morning denizens

Grey start out, though still mild at 16°C; it may reach 22° later, but no sun is likely, it seems. Barometers are down a wedge at 996/1003mB

I was up early enough to take down the recycling and trundle forth the bin. Plenty of time, in fact,...

The car earlier was one of those Mercedes things that you used to see around a lot some years ago. The opal hunters continued the business of risking life and limb for what turned out to be quite decent rewards for a few of them this time. And antiques bloke was mostly lost amidst the business of cooking...

Tea: chicken madras with rice and naan. Tasty, but very filling

It's bin day tomorrow but I'm too knackered to be heading down and trundling. If I wake early enough tomorrow, I'll deal with it then; otherwise, I won't

Still grey out and down to 20°C with occasional drizzle. And there's a light breeze coming through the window, all of which has brought the temperature in here down to 22°, so I think I'll shut the window now and keep it around that level

And I just noticed on the oximeter that my...

    Pâté on toast for lunch

It's gone quite grey out now, and although I haven't witnessed any showers, they are apparently happening or due to happen.

Meanwhile, the alternate mattress topper is in the wash. Now my temperature is returning to normal levels, I'm looking...

Oh, and the vinegar doesn't smell quite as bad today! Still not something you'd want to handle outside a fume cupboard, but no longer on the radar of the Sunday Times' Insight team

    Morning denizens

Sunny start again, up to 20°C already (was 19° half-an-hour ago) with 25° forecast. Barometers down a little at 1003/1011mB, and some showers are expected from around teatime on

I awoke without a sore throat for the first time since Saturday!...

The car earlier was an easy Toyota Celica, though they ended up putting in a much more recent VVT-i engine. The opal hunters encountered their usual mix of misfortune and good fortune. And the antiques bloke was terminated early because dinner was ready, so I switched to an early Police Interceptor...
