It seems that a number of tax avoidance schemes have adopted a new approach:-
1) They have created "clone" companies that look very similar to FCSA and PP umbrellas
2) they have purchased virtual numbers that are geographically similar to those umbrellas
3) they are making phone calls to contractors offering them a tax "saving" scheme / scam and highlighting their PP / FCSA membership will be enough for the agency to be happy.
So if an umbrella calls you and you haven't just got a new contract which the umbrella firm references - put the phone down...
