Lots of tuppence ha'penny inside IR35 roles on the boards and not a lot else.

    5 months in now.

Getting to a point where you're hoping for the govt to announce some massive new BS policy so that a bit of work might come out of it.
There are certainly some inside roles which are £750+/day. What is your skill set? Outside rates have trended down towards £500/day from £800+ for some rules due to it being an IT recession with lots of bodies on the bench.

As for the females hired by Accenture, at least that's getting females into IT. Most offices are still far too male and the ones with C-suite males only tend to be very toxic management style.

There is certainly a whiff of desperation coming from linked in now, I am not sure logging in there and reading the feed is uplifting or, depressing.

Lots of millenialls posting pictures of their latest company day out/conference/booze up so we at least know that someone, somewhere is still spaffing clients cash and the industry is in a 100% rude health (cough). Might as well go down partying like its 99 I suppose.....

I wish mine was more uplifting, just people grinding through the latest Ukraine news or discussing whether AI has removed their job yet.
At times I wonder the point of linkedin, just seems yet another way of moaning your way through life.

It is July 1st today, so we are 3 years into this downturn, apparently it started in July 2022.

I wonder if anyone here has had the misfortune to have been on the bench since 2022?

I have been out for 3 months. I've never seen anything like this and I've been doing this since 1997. So a good 28 years. It feels like there is a huge structural shift underway and that large parts of the tech consulting space are going and never coming back. I wonder what the real tech unemployment rate is.

Apparently this thread started in 2016, while some may have an opinion that it is far more recent than 9 years ago, in reality since 2016 things have not been great for British contractors and British business in general.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

                  As do Deloitte!
I do like rearranging the letters Deloiite to make something more appropriate!

Absolutely untrue. They only recruit attractive ladies in their 20s from good schools.

(With the odd posh bloke passing through before they go off and get an actual career as, for some unknown reason, having a couple of years of surviving in the extended Apprentice episode that is a career at Accenture on your CV seems to be a good thing).

I haven't got anywhere near a contract in months so am looking at permanent roles, which I am getting a bit of traction in but nothing over the line yet.

Does feel like the IT Contracting circus has left town, although permanent IT isn't much better and from what I see other white collar professions are struggling.
