no calls to report from the burner phone this week.
we saw what the bottom looked like when covid hit, we are not anywhere near that bad right now but we desperately need some sort of bounce.
everyone is going to suffer if this continues, more end-clients that can't really...

In terms of who has done the move, there are posts on the facebook groups that confirm that at least one U.K National has been accepted for a Digital Nomad Visa in under 30 days via the Spanish Self-Employment route i.e. you provide the Spanish authorities a self-employment certificate (link below)...

I see that no more as an admin problem, its not really a legal problem. You can just setup an offshore expat account in GBP.
Even if they (agency/end-client) pay in GBP to you, the FX costs between GBP/EUR are so slim, you can do the conversion yourself, I just would avoid having it paid...

We are in uncharted waters here so its going to be unclear for the next 6 months. If you don't like risks then better to wait.
There are social media groups inside the usual sites that will give you a better insight as to what is going on. There is a check-list that some legal teams have...

Money and reputation are sometimes never linked.
Sure you could have taken a rate cut to get a role quickly but how long would you have lasted there and how high would have been your quality of work?

The lessons from previous crisis is that when something goes bust, many contractor roles are lost.

Since RBS London campuses went ad-hoc/fully remote in 2014 (and many others followed suit) I have not been forced into the office for almost 10 years now.
The only roles I have seen for 3-5 days in the office are those attached to the Military/Police/Associated Agencies etc....

It has been answered above but I will summarise my experience. You should be able to download two PDF files from the umbrella's web portal.
PDF File 1 : Most Umbrellas I have used have a web portal, on the Umbrella web portal you should be able to download the umbrella contract agreement...

I tracked the activity last year, there was a bounce from Mid-May through to end of June, market was good in June and then it deteriorated fairly rapidly all the way through 2022.
Burner is dead today, its not a good start for a Monday....

First rule of contracting, never answer your phone on Friday.
Even the burner has gone off twice today and that's been on death watch for about three weeks.
Would not want to be a contract recruiter this week, it looks like carnage and a poor setup for April. Things best pick...Last edited by Bluenose; 17 March 2023, 13:56.

The driving licence issue has been resolved (statement is here: https://youtu.be/vOPhj3Ekb9A)
You will be able to swap your U.K drivers licence for a Spanish one without taking a test.
In terms of the Spanish Nomad Visa, the current rumour seems to indicate that it will go...

Its not uncommon for January optimism to be replaced by end-of-February reality but this year seems particularly grim.

yep, the burner has gone off twice this week and I imagine they were both automated insurance scam calls....

I had to check to see if my burner phone was still charged this morning. It's not going off at all.
Things should pick up after the statement next Thursday....
