Its been going on since about then but accelerated rapidly last few years as companies look to boost their share price by reducing costs (in the wrong areas!!).
All the IB's are doing it right now that's tens of thousands of highly skilled IT workers many will never work in IT again as...

I think you can do this & you have to do this they will have to seek alternate employment like many of us have or had to its a tough old life! That's what they do in many other countries when your no longer required you have to go!
We are effectively subsidising a high standard of living...

They need to cancel all foreign IT workers Vistas wait a few years see if any fake perceived skills gaps appear train UK born workers to plug those but its not going to happen due to the immense corruption in the government!!...

I agree it was finished ages ago they allowed way too many IT vistas should cancel the lot no shortage of skilled IT workers in the UK at all.....skilled IT workers who do not want to be exploited however is a another matter altogether!
In a few years it will become so obvious right now...

Yep its all designed to lower the employers costs that why they do not care until things go wrong in a big way!
Pension, holidays, sick pay etc etc all massive payroll overheads...employing bottom feeders eliminates all of those costs even though they are paying the outsourcer massive fees......!...

Well those 6000 means most will get culled replaced for cheaper to hire imports provided by the illegal providers who the UK government welcome with open arms FFS! Its jut not looking good for most of the UK born IT workforce tbh the writing is on the wall & absolutely no-one is doing anything at...

Rates will make little difference even if ZERO! The current Chancellor before she got this job was asked direct questions last year on the Trade Floor at the IB I worked at regarding basic economic monetary concepts she stood a few feet away from me we did not know at the time who she was...we did however...

You hit the nail right on the head few are genuine roles many are just CV harvesting exercises...if the agent is not seen to be busy then they become surplus to requirements & get the big heave ho with no payout just std notice terms for most as they have not been there long enough to qualify for...

Not always! We managed to ride out 2 years of this 3 time unlucky this year...they culled a lot of IT staff last week all in 1 go. Its not going to save them anything £££ wise short term quite the opposite......

Just coming out out of a very well paid IB role after almost 4 years.....I can tell you right now they are all on a race to the bottom rates wise your going to have to target non financial services if you want to get any decent work going forwards.
They axed all the London based developers...

LOL absolutely not would not waste a penny on them or the IB both will not last & see the end of this decade as the way they are run is a race to the bottom.......its just not sustainable they already lost a load of money dumping all the most experienced IT staff its just not going to save...

Good luck pal.
I am also done. Spent almost last 4 years at a very well know IB went perm they told me I had to so I did...that caused them to screw me out of a few grand alone due to notice timings.......
Then last 2 years we all knew the end was looming as they handed a well...
