It's an inevitable consequence of Trump's loading of the Supreme Court with right wing, anti-choice, pro-gun judges. One of which (the first one) should have been a Democrat choice but the Republicans refused to confirm them.

It's a situation that could last for decades unless the rules on appointments and number of judges are changed.

You need to remember when you argue with Americans they quote their constitution.

What they won't tell you it is the same constitution that has been amended 27 times with the last time being in May 1992.

Some people are calling it the United States of Gilead. Of course at least half of the states aren't going to restrict abortion as a result of this judgement, so it's more the dis-united States of Gilead.

Row vs Wade was always a weak judgement. There's been 40 years to strengthen things but even when the Democrats had a majority in both houses, they didn't.

Appalling, religion holding society back. I suppose you don't have to be religious to be opposed to late abortion, perhaps a feotus should be regarded as a human being at some point, but in the first few weeks it has as much self awareness as a slice of elbow. Souls don't exist.

The reason is fairly simple. “The right to slaughter unborn children shall not be infringed” does not appear anywhere in the constitution.

Whether killing babies is your bag or not, it is irrelevant to the Supreme Court’s decision. They are just saying it’s up to the States or the people to decide.

If you really are dead-set against the innocents it’s easy enough to just add those words to the constitution and Bob’s your Uncle.
