I'd be cautious sending them the token £1 incase they in fact twist that to say it's payment towards any so called debt....

Yeah I got that mised up! Well don't just talk about writing a complaint, do it. That's the way to fight back

Has anyone who's received the default notice already formally disputed the debt? If so then you can raise a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service: https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

Do you know they charge £680 to investigate this, it's free to you, but the company they investigate...

I think they intentionally left off payment mechanisms to avoid directly violating FCA regulations whilst they try to "cure" past paperwork failures. It may also render the default notice legally invalid;

Under Section 88(1) of the CCA, a statutory Default Notice is strictly required...

Make sure you send a formal dispute, don't ignore it or they could enter a default judgement. Has anyone that sent a formal dispute received the latest bundle?
