Is Microsoft Defender down?
The OH has been running a scan but the PC is now coming up with “Windows security not available 0x803F8001”, I’ve just opened my laptop to check, tried to open Defender and got the same error so I immediately shut it down.
Anyone else with this problem?

But HMRC will come knocking, so the workers will be hit for the same money twice because you can bet your arse that the liquidator won’t pass that money onto HMRC....

Paid by an umbrella and chased by HMRC?

Irrespective of it being an agency trick, Parasol need to give their head a shake.
Parasol, grow a backbone and don’t let agencies walk over you - your reputation is at stake if what the agency is saying isn’t true....

Wow, if they’re as big as you say (and I don’t doubt it) they’re going to need a stiffer backbone than that or they might as well shut up shop and hand over the keys....

I would contract your umbrella as I'm sure that they'll want a word with the agent once they've heard about this.

You are resurrecting a five year old post, I would advice getting proper tax advice from a specialist.

I have no experience in this matter (apart from the contractor bit).
Basically, what you have described is a gamble, so what is your risk profile? You could end up working X months for nothing (quite likely), or even paying out (HMRC) for the privilege of working there (unlikely but possible)....
