I actually prefer it to pancreas killing over sweet Chinese celebration food or the football shirt wearing Phall.

You don't want to go down south people are strange!

        Home again!

A good time was had by all

The Thai meal was pretty nice - I'd ordered 3 flavour spare ribs as a starter, which were very good, and then a Bangkok chicken curry with sticky rice

And the birthday cake, made by my brother's wife, was an edifice of epic proportions, built up on the sides with truffles and chocolate buttons, antennae made of Matchmakers poking out, and covered on the top with (still-wrapped) Quality Street; not to mention both chocolate and vanilla sponge layered with strawberries and cream within, and probably other stuff I've forgotten

Obligatory IT support task: getting iPlayer working on their telly. My Dad had apparently registered a BBC account ages ago but I couldn't get their password reset emails to come through, and none of his standard passwords worked. So in the end I made him a new account using an email address on one of my domains and got them logged in that way

Journey down was fine, but coming back the weather was atrocious, especially along the A14

Journey up north on Friday during Eunice was 3hr 30mins (according to The WifeTM). Blue skies, no traffic, stiff breeze in places.
journey home was an hour longer. Horizontal rain, heavy traffic, and storms blowing cars everywhere. I’ve got sore arms like I’ve been to the gym, but it’s just from gripping the steering wheel to keep the car on the road. Also £1.529 for unleaded? It’s grim up north (Oxfordshire/Bedfordshire)
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Didn't need a huge tea after the meal earlier, so I just had a bowl of Scotch broth with both multiseed and wholemeal bread (there was a thick wholemeal crust that needed using up)

It's horrid out; the rain's gone, but it's very windy

And I feel knackered. I had a decent night's sleep and didn't get up drastically early, so it's either the driving that's done me in, or the now wholly unfamiliar business of socialising (there were eight of us! all in the same room!!!)

Telly whilst dining was an episode of Trucking Hell, which reminded me that I saw a Crouch Recovery truck dealing with a broken-down car just north of J20 as I headed south today

And then some episodes of S1 of the Warship thing - different ship (a Type 45), and they were ditzing around in the Black Sea and the Med rather than pestering polar bears.

                Goodnight all

                  Morning.

                  Dry.

                  Very windy.

                  Grey.

                  Sunless.

Cold in here at 12.2 deg.

1010 mBar, 29.83 in Hg, 757.6 Torr, 14.65 psi, (up from 1005 mb last night), 68% RH.

                  Monday.

Telex machine gleaming & back is aching. Ho very hum. .

Much flickering of lights: 4 dips in quick succession: someone's trying to reclose a breaker somewhere.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the moderate gale (as in walking uphill much like walking on the flat).

Lunch: scrambled egg and poached tomato on Morrisons wholemeal sunflower and spelt toasted crust, bramble jelly sandwich, red pippy corner yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

Entertainment: commentary on Bab5 S4 E17 "The face of the enemy". Minorly inneresting in its way.

Freecell score: 100%, running average 85.9%.

Tea: chicken in white sauce with rice n'peas, some tinned pears, a yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

                  Entertainment: Discovering Montgomery Clift.

Quantum Leap S5 E5 "Killin' Time". The escaped serial killer one.

Bab5 S4 E22 "The deconstruction of falling stars": what would have been the final ep if S5 hadn't happened. filler episode since the actual final ep was now a final ep of S5 not S4. Or something.

The Oak Island nutjobs S8 E22 "Be there or T square". More wood. No tulip sherlock.

Some sort of "mason's square" found in the swamp: naturally enough left by the Knights Templar.

What appears to be a "door" & "Doorframe" found in Samuel Ball's cellar.

                  Bit of iron hinge, ditto.

Nutjob decodes stuff to determine "point Z": dig here: vault 40 feet down.

Big feck off iron bar found in the swamp, covered in charcoal.

                  NCIS S18 E8 "True Believer".

Commentary on Bab5 S4 E22. : Though it did point out some stuff I'd missed when watching it: the observer for one.

                      Morning denizens

Sunny (occasionally) out, but with a fair amount of white fluffiness getting in the way from time to time and passing drizzle or showers expected for much of the day. Barometers up a bit at 997/1005mB. Still fairly windy at 26mph
