No idea, it hasn't been switched on for at least 5 years & probably more like 10.

It's going with 20 or so 10" reels of Scotch 207 and 10 or so 7" reels of assorted 207/175 (whatever 175 is, that's on the box but not necessarily what's on the spools).

I paid £600 for the A700 in 1977. It was never really up to much. And is full of those horrid clear epoxy paper capacitors that will need changing before it's powered up, plus a fine selection of almost pure unobtainium Revox branded ics.

I still wonder why I thought it a good idea to buy the thing, one of the follies of youth.

Morning denizens

Sunny and Simpsonesque out today, and the breeze that started to feature rather heavily in the later reaches of yesterday has died back a lot, though there's still some slight waving of fronds over on the conifers. Not as warm as it was though: currently 10°C and not getting any higher than 13°. The barometers are back up a bit at 1012/1020mB

Meanwhile on the 17th of September 2019 NF was troubled by The Phantom Driller as works went on in his old abode, LM declared that "Constantine" was a favourite film, and I posted an ep of "The Mighty Micro" which featured both Lucky Jim and The Great She Elephant.

I had to have a look at that to see Lucky Jim. All the predictions about The End of Work didn't come true after all. Never mind, the poor coal miner chap probly never got another job when The Great She Elephant closed the mines he worked in.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the sunshine and chill. Pleasant enough once I'd warmed up.

Lunch: bean on toast etc.

Photography, walking and gardening yesterday before dinner round at a friend’s house. Late home, and even Max was tired this morning.

The usual wildlife stuff on the telly today, including a Monkey Life special on wooly monkeys. Next week, the new series starts, featuring the two new chimps coming from Argentina

This evening, I've started reading Julia by Sandra Newman, which describes the events of Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four from the perspective of said Julia, Winston's lover and co-conspirator against the benevolence of Big Brother

Rather oddly, there were two novels with that premise published last year, a few months apart. I've got them both, so it'll be interesting to see which does it better.

In other news, the USAF Stratotanker that was on patrol over Iraq but then started squawking 7700 is descending towards the air base from which it took off, in Qatar. According to FlightRadar24 it's sixty-five years old, so I'm not surprised it didn't want to stay out late on a Saturday night

Tea was delivered from the curry house past the park that I first tried a few weeks ago, and was very nice indeed: tandoori chicken, lamb samosas, chicken madras, keema rice, and a naan which was thrown in for free

My little patch of lawn has been mowed. It's a bit warm out there and a quick check of the weather app says it's 21 degrees

I don't think I'll be doing much more garden based pottering today.
