I wonder what the West/NATO will do if Putin does resort to using chemical weapons? Other than condemnation, strong words, further sanctions (assuming there are any left to impose)? They must be considering that possibility.
Presumably, if he used nuclear weapons, that might be a real "red line"?Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.Comment

The Ukrainians are supposedly doing very well against Russia - personally I feel we've let Ukraine down and we should be fighting alongside them.Old Greg - In search of acceptance since Mar 2007. Hoping each leap will be his last.Comment

"Fighting alongside them" is a complete nonsense. It's not our war, doing so would immediately escalate this to the whole of NATO and then to the whole developed world, with a madman in charge of one side's nuclear and chemical weaponry. It wouldn't actually achieve any kind of desirable outcome.Blog? What blog...?Comment

Doing the same over Ukraine would be a bit of an own goal, as it would have much the same affect in western Russia
Can't see him doing it though, as that would be an act of war, and he seems to be having enough trouble fighting his neighbour without taking on the whole street!

They won't intervene in Ukraine except for the use of big nukes (Russia also has small tactical nukes) IMO. Any war with Russia to stop atrocities in Ukraine will almost certainly lead to more deaths and misery overall? Declaring war on one country to stop them invading another country who is not formally your ally is very dicey.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment

Meaning, let's worry about that if it happens (which it almost certainly won't, unless he can't resist a bite out of Moldova!)
