On the one hand, technically if Russia withdraws then he's done what the west have demanded... on the other I think you're probably right. Reparations and apologies will be demanded (which he will not agree to) and even then, all trust is gone. Realistically, Russia is isolated or Putin goes. I wouldn't say it couldn't be the first option.

I kind of keep hoping that some persons in Russia will see that there's only one possible way back from this ie. eliminating him.
Maybe the FBI will put a dead or alive bounty on his head like they did with Bin Laden.

Not sure that would be a good idea. Bin Laden was neither a head of state nor the controller of major nuclear capabilities...Originally posted by DealorNoDeal View Post

War Crimes won't work either: Russia aren't signatories to the Hague agreement.Blog? What blog...?

Foreign interference does seem likely to be a bad idea, it can easily backfire and galvanise a country against the 'aggressor'. If the Russians choose to do something themselves then that's probably a bit different.Originally posted by malvolio View Post

Well, if Russia ever wants a possibility of getting the sanctions, boycotts and embargoes lifted, they know what they need to do. Because it's very unlikely to happen while Putin is in charge. The days of supplying O&G to the West are probably numbered even if Putin goes.Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.Comment

with a little bit of luck countries will move to green self sufficiency and away from buying from mad despots.Originally posted by DealorNoDeal View PostWell, if Russia ever wants a possibility of getting the sanctions, boycotts and embargoes lifted, they know what they need to do.
