After being #9000 in the online queue, losing my place and having to start over I was keen to take whatever I could find. You could see different sites appearing and disappearing in real time as they got booked up, etc. It was looking like nothing until 8th Jan but odd slots kept popping up much sooner, blink and you miss it sort of thing. Managed to snag one on Monday - only to get a "website error" and rebooked for 8th, but it turned out I got both. So 2 boosters for me.

My GP surgery also has their own online system which seems to list different sites so I'm keeping an eye on that in case one pops up.

Am I the only one who worries that with O basically presenting as a cold, the vaccination centre is about the worst place to be for Covid risk? So many people must be getting boosted who actually have it, at least in areas with big-O.

Yep, just took the first available slot and told Client Co. I would be out for an hour or so to get it. No issues.

Anyway, I’ll take a hit for the team and will be the CUK canary.

    I’ll keep you posted.

I had mine 4 weeks ago, so before the new variant and the rush to get boosted. I went at lunchtime, queue for 30 mins, jabbed, back home in time to surf porn for the rest of the afternoon!

In 3 days, it will be 400,000 a day
In 6 days, it will be 800,000 a day
In 9 days, around christmas day, it will be 1,600,000 a day

When half the population has caught it then then rate of infections will start to decline, but almost everyone will get it.
Little doubt the vast majority of us will be challenged by Omicron over the next month. Current figures are even higher than yours, with 200k est 2 days ago and a doubling time of less than 2 days. That would put us at 5m or so by Christmas day, with arguably another 10m or so infectious but pre-symptomatic. The rest of us will then get it on Christmas day.

1st one was at a chemist in Portsmouth, got there and looked through the window, didn't see one person with a mask on including the pharmacists so walked away...

2nd one the queue was all around the building and they were only open for two hours so I didn't think there was any chance of me getting a jab.

3rd time I was at work when the surgery called to offer me a jab...

So now I have two invites going at the same time. One for 4th January and one I have to call for today at my local surgery. But again I'm working Saturday so might need to miss that again.

On the plus side, I'm pretty sure I had it in March 2019 just before I built that huge warehouse in Corby that we slowly filled up with chinese PPE that we had probably sold them previously, some of it was coming in container trucks FFS...

I'm not going to worry too much about it now, I figure that with the number of people I've seen on TV standing in queues waiting for the jab but not wearing a face mask, there's probablty as much chance of getting it whilst in the queue as being around the public. I know the mask is to protect the person sat next to you.
On the other hand, if I catch it, it's been nice "knowing" you all. ;-)
I don't want to sound rude here, but twice you've prioritised work over getting the jab so getting the booster can't be that important to you. I had my 3rd jab during work time, pretty much everyone I know has. This is a choice you made, I just hope the job is worth it if you do get covid and you've not been boosted in time!
