Right. But even Warren Buffet is on at least 40% cash right now.
The other 60% is in those other diversifiers.
But my point is, its my choice, not Rachel Reeves. The governments agenda is not to make me better off, its to make the government better off.
If we just...Last edited by willendure; Today, 11:54.

That is essentially what I am trying to say. You need to navigate the same process sure, but having to get your CV past AI to even have a chance of being seen by a human is a hard constraint to satisfy. Because if it isn't a perfect match, it won't come out ahead of the other 1000 cvs they got sent...

Writing a CV for todays market is tough. Here is how I view what a CV is trying to accomplish.
A CV is like an elaborate key, elaborate because its trying to unlock a process that has become very highly elaborate and specific in itself.
A CV needs to get through ATS AI screen,...Last edited by willendure; Yesterday, 12:16.

Bloody ridiculous. It sends totally the wrong message - "you must be fully invested at all times".
I am 40% in cash right now - now that I give a tulip about the pennies in interest on it. I just see zero point in buying equities at todays crazy prices. Buy low sell high remember...

Yeah, first half page that is the critical part.
Assuming you actually get as far as a human being looking at your CV, they aren't going to look any further if its not a hit on the first half page.

I hope not - all that work I put into make a beatiful looking PDF and they ruin it in Word !! But yes, quite often they do.
If I get an interview I used to take along a printed copy and had it to the interviewer, for vid conf I just send them the file, and pull it on screen at some point...

I can see why.
Last contract we had 4 offshore devs, and one sprint they wrote 3 lines of code between them. I bumped into an old colleague around that time, and told him it was like working with lazy and stupid AIs.
I could get more done with a £20/month AI subscription,...

If you pay your son PAYE £4000/year for doing some small amount of work for your company, does that get him a full NI contribution for that year ? Otherwise, if he is not working, he won't count the university years for NI. Shoot me down if this is incorrect, but seems like it could be a consideration,...

HMRC just sent me a £600 rebate, I've no idea what for, but ta! So I bought a Mac Mini, as I need to be able to build some code on Mac now. But it will make a top class video conferencing box, where OBS runs nicely instead of crashing like it does on Linux. OBS doesn't cut it ? there is better software...

I am the same, an in person meeting is so much better. Before all these f'ing Teams calls, it was a rare thing indeed that I would get an interview and not get offered the job - due to my stunning personality obviously. Somehow video calls just get in the way of providing an opportunity to make a real...

BTW - Some of these reasonably well paid train AI to code jobs on LI are a scam. Apparently the way it works is they invite you to an interview, for which you must accept Ts&Cs, waiving the right to pursue them as part of any class action lawsuit being one of them - a waiver you can opt out of by...
