For aficionados of such matters, The Two Ronnies was first broadcast forty-nine years ago tonight (8:15, BBC1): The Two Ronnies - BBC One London - 10 April 1971 - BBC Genome

dinner has been chilli, with rice.
      and a nice rioja.
watching Rick stein in catalan france.
early night, probably, once i've knocked myself out with rioja and rum, as i probably won't sleep otherwise.

Well "The Cardboard Box" (wot's this 'ere ear?) was a fairly downbeat ending to the Jeremy Brett Holmes saga.

The ep of TAOM is all about metals.

I don't remember ever seeing cupellation of gold before.

It's quite remarkable in a remarkably remarkable sort of way.

The ep starts off with him heating cinnabar on an open dish on a flame.

Not something I'd care to do really.
              When the fun stops, STOP.

                    feck me!
a veritable cornucopia of corpses on vera tonight.
and none of them virally induced.

                    well, there's a thing.

Proper observance of Good Friday with tonight’s tea, being chunky battered cod with chips and beans, just like Jesus ate

The cod was from Iceland’s Luxury™ range. The batter wasn’t quite up to the standard of M&S, but it was fine

N.B. The Good Friday observance is voided rather by the chicken soup for lunch and an unrecorded sausage roll when I felt a bit peckish in the afternoon
