Sat down listening to The Floyd, to whit, "Pulse", the DSOTM cd.

The Very Expensive speakers are sounding a bit harsh.

Maybe being unused for so long has done them a power of not much good at all.

There's a pair of Mission 700 bookshelf cheapos that I may try next.

Alternatively, the amplifier might need a bit of fettling since that's been unused for more or less the same amount of time.

I ran it up on a variac so things didn't get too much of a shock.

Maybe a bit more bias would help, the heatsinks are Very Generous so biasing for min crossover is an option even if that's 200mA or more.

The heatsinks on the other version are so inadequate that 70mA is about the highest permissible without a fan.

Alternatively it may be that I'm missing the smoothness of the Class A.

That looked like Tiddley porn at first glance. I thought I was quite broad-minded but never heard of that variety!
Long long ago and far far away, they did things differently then.

The rhubarb is looking great in our garden and the neighbours', so a few kgs of jam will be on my list.
The hens have been hard at it as well, 7 eggs so far today, might get one more although it is late in the day for laying.
And I've watered the beetroot, pea, kale, cucumber and lettuce seeds that I planted at the weekend, plus gave the heritage tomatoes a drink as well.

Been out for an excursion in the wild, open spaces. To be precise, I took the bin bag from the kitchen, topped up with the contents of the living room wastepaper basket, down to the wheelie bin in the back yard, and popped out to lock the main back gate that idiots keep leaving open

From there I had a look at Iceland; it appears to be open, but I can’t think of anything I need so I didn’t bother crossing the road.

          Oh.

Changed to the line output of the cd & it sounds much betterer.

There's no tone controls at all so it's more or less flat.

Some bits are a bit piercing, to be frank.

          Now "Shining On".

In other news, I found a book of photos "Swansea 1960 - 1980", wherein there're two photos of the site of Ye Newe Sloughe of Desponde.

The bit it's built on is open to the sea, and the dry dock (disused) next to the building is really really dry coz it's completely filled in.

The area has changed beyond belief.

The single thing that's unchanged is the disused ferry port.

My friend's mum is in hospital having I 131 treatment.

          She's in for 3 days.

I took my mum down there & came back the same morning so feck nose what gamma dose I & the rest of us got.

It must have been quite high coz the little geiger counter that ticks twice every 10 seconds with cosmic rays was going battulip crazy from 10 feet away through a wooden floor.

The number of confirmed cases locally is now 22. As I recall, it was 16 on Friday

Was just thinking that last night's announcement would be good news for him - no weddings for the next 3 weeks.

                  Doomed etc.

                  Back to DSOTM.

Oh yes, the line output is much cleaner than the other one on the cd player.

Just had the clocks on "Time".

So DrS - is the world after this virus going to look more like Survivors or Threads?

                    Comment

Depends on whether there's a bright flash or not.

I reckon it's "Survivors" complete with Brian Blessed.

Though it could be Leg End with Will Smith.

                      Trust me, I'm a Doctor.

I suppose I ought to put the top back on this amp before I electrocute myself.
