    Afternoon denizens

Grey day, showers predicted but not actually happening, rain due tonight. But quite mild for now at 17°C out, ~20° within

Afternoon all grass cut twice, it was too long to do once.

I finished Midnight in Chernobyl yesterday (excellent book) so now I'm moving on to Timothy Crouse's The Boys on the Bus, being an account of life in the press pack during the 1972 US Presidential election campaigns. Crouse covered the campaigns for Rolling Stone, presumably because they needed a slightly less demented counterpoint to the coverage Hunter S. Thompson was providing for them, which was later published as Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72.

The lazy bastard next door will have to strim his lawn.

The cat was disappearing 10 days ago & it's grown a fair amount since then.

Only another 680 pages of "A Bright Shining Lie" to go.

Tea this evening was chili con carne with rice & such like.

            It was nice enough.

Followed by the statutory 1.05 pints of Good Glengettie Tea.

More of "Jeremiah" is pencilled in for this evening.

Only had a bag of crisps for lunch so I've staved off the pangs of hunger for a bit longer with a piece of the blackberry and apple pie out of the freezer, with a dollop of ice cream

Dinner has been chicken jalfrezy 'ding'.

very nice, and rather hot, too.

and a chilean pinot noir called 'bicycle'
brillo would like it if he wasn't such a health freak.

Pity I didn't search for this earlier:

Which would have saved me watching stuff out of order, namely "Thieves Honor" being ep 11.

"Jeremiah" Thieves' Honor (TV Episode 2002) - IMDb
As it transpired, the last one I watched was "City of Roses":

"Jeremiah" City of Roses (TV Episode 2002) - IMDb

Which I watched again, followed by "Firewall":

"Jeremiah" Firewall (TV Episode 2002) - IMDb

which explains how things started off in Thunder Mountain,

                  followed by "Red Kiss":

"Jeremiah" Red Kiss (TV Episode 2002) - IMDb

Which I have no recall of whatsoever.

Which is enough Jeremiah for one evening.

Now watching a remarkably young Michael Jagger and his beat combo on "Yesterday": it's a gas apparently.

Onward through "Honky Tonk Wimmin" and topping it all off with "The Last Time".

Feck me, I remember all this stuff coming out.

Now it's World War Weird with the talking heads telling us stuff about the Nazis.

Starting off with Soviet bomb dogs, the ultimate in antitank weapons.

In other news it's pissing down with a vengeance and old women & sticks with added murrain of beasts.

Now it's Nazi gold, gold I tell ye, goooooold!

                      Crop circles, 5th columnists.

                      Strange Adverts in American newpapers.

The Soviet plan for human/gorilla orangutan crossbreeds.

Next is "The Man Who Never Was" at a guess.

                      Yup. Operation Mincemeat, Glyndwr Michael.

A man who accomplished more when he was dead than many did when they were alive.

                      Glyndwr Michael - Wikipedia

And all without knowing a thing about it.

Now a thing about Operation Paperclip and Lyme Disease.

                      Nazi Bioweapon?

                      Now the vanishing airship

Now looking at "Destroyed in Seconds" on DMAX+1 whatever that is.
