Oh and Russia is holding high level talks with Iran and Hamas.

The second US carrier strike group has arrived.

Who had WW3 for 2023 bingo?
I remember the regular causality lists before Iron dome it is indeed fantastic.

It's actually a bit crazy considering they wanted to do a ground invasion, with constant bombing they are making it much more difficult for ground troops to advance as fighting in a destroyed city must be the slowest and bloodiest of all. Perhaps that's why they are delaying that invasion constantly and doing what consumes less Israeli soldier lives ie. bomb the tulip out of them?

Yes, but made easier by degrading the enemy capabilities through hunger, dehydration, destroying ammo and comms and leadership. Also flattened buildings give less field of view for snipers and no heights to hit the tops of tanks etc.

From reading up on some of the military strategies coming out of the US they are saying don't do what we did in Mosul, which is try to take a city where the local population will help the enemy in terrain it knows well and has fortified. The evacuation order, taking out strongholds etc is clearing a way for it to access the tunnels.

Interestingly the US are also trying to get Israel to state its objectives, the statement wiping out Hamas is unachievable as all Hamas needs to do is survive for it to win the war. I suspect the aims will change when the ground offensive begins.

Also if these tunnels are as vast as various parties claim, why have they not been used to shelter or evacuate civilians?

The US and probably Israel have effective bunker busters, once they have the civilians out of the way they will be dropped on the tunnels.

No doubt those main tunnels are below human shields like hospitals, and UN facilities.

Make your mind up, which is it, shelter evacuated civilians or human shields?

                  why can't it be both?

Main tunnels - where stock piles and command centres are.

Extensive network of tunnels - used to move about Gaza city.

                  Happy to help.

He can't. Not until he better understands what Hamas is trying to do, and has been doing for at least 20 years. The other missing factor in this ongoing debate is that the casualty figures are coming from Hamas; what they are not saying is how many are combatants, how many are genuine civilians and, come to that, how many don't actually exist.

They do but I don't think they are feasible for Gaza. I think they are far more likely to use gas.
