Following on from the Detroit Synagogue President being stabbed:

    https://uk.news.yahoo.com/america-je...030621532.html

American Jews are racing to buy guns and take firearms training following the Hamas terror attack and the killing of a synagogue leader.
Better to have a gun & not need it than need a gun and not have it
Glad to see they're getting trained up in how to handle the fecking things properly.
    When the fun stops, STOP.

It is sadly going to spread, I was in Maidenhead last Saturday, cue a "save Palestine" march accusing all Jews of murdering Palestinian babies. a certain amount of brass neck with the videos we saw from the 7th.

I really hope that they stop killing and start talking sadly fat chance.

Then again I have a feeling Hamas doesn't give to tulips about the above. Also, it's not like Hamas is a properly organised army, it's pretty much guerrilla style mixed in with civilians, so you will end up with a lot of civilian life losses in any attack on their "military" targets.

I'm afraid it's gone so far now that they will be killing themselves for years to come and not even remembering why.

Hamas is funded by (insert non-secular state supporter of terrorism here) to the tune of many million pounds a year. They are emphatically not a bunch of amateurs, they are an organised, properly equipped and properly trained army. Don't make the mistake of thinking of them (or Hezbollah or ISIS or any of a dozen other groups) as being free-standing fanatics. Their use of human shields is a purely military decision.

I'm getting uncomfortable vibes about these hostage releases, really think it needs to be stressed that so far they all have family members still being held and that could influence anything they say.

Hezbollah is arguably the strongest and most organised non-state armed actor in the world. Hamas is no where near as capable.

seems she said as much as she could, but her husband is still a hostage.

I was talking proper army like US / UK has with heavy equipment, tanks, supply line equipment, planes etc. They might be bigger than a bunch of dudes with AKs, but it's far from an actual proper full blown army. Also Hamas seems to have 25-30k active soldiers vs Israels 150k or so + all the kit from US and I'm talking advanced military equipment you can't just buy on the black market (and if you could you need training on it).

But yes of course being mixed in with the civilians is a conscious decision.

They don't need an army with all the toys, look at where they are based, their objectives and their operational area. AKs and rockets are more than enough.

I never said they did, I simply stated that they are not an "army" per se, in a traditional sense, so for them rules of engagement and international law is feck all. They operate from within heavy populated areas and this is why Israel will have a tough time avoiding civilian causalities whilst Hamas blames them for killing civilians.
