Rest of the world: "Well lets hope Delta doesn't mutate further into a vaccine resistant strain"
England with their 'lets infect as many people as possible approach': "Hold my beer..."
If everyone gets it before it has a chance to mutate we're golden
If everyone gets it before it has a chance to mutate we're golden
you can still get it and also get the mutant version from a different part of the word, if it doesn't mutate here it doesn't mean it won't mutate somewhere else.
The more you let the virus "roam" the higher the chances of it mutating. Let it spread in a vaccinated group of people and sooner or later it will mutate to evade the vaccine so that it can survive. So the whole "herd immunity" approach is dumber than anything else, especially with cases soaring as it means you need to reach 98% vaccination levels to stop the spread (the higher the R the higher the % or vaccinated people).
"Sage adviser claims ministers trying to get as many as possible infected with Covid
Exclusive: Prof Robert West says rhetoric about caution is ‘a way of putting blame on public’
A scientist advising the government has accused ministers of allowing infections to rip through the younger population in an effort to bolster levels of immunity before the NHS faces winter pressures.
“What we are seeing is a decision by the government to get as many people infected as possible, as quickly as possible, while using rhetoric about caution as a way of putting the blame on the public for the consequences,” said Prof Robert West, a health psychologist at University College London who participates in Sage’s behavioural science subgroup.
“It looks like the government judges that the damage to health and healthcare services will be worth the political capital it will gain from this approach,” West said, adding that ministers appear to believe the strategy is now sustainable – unlike last year – because of the vaccine rollout.

Well, one does not need to have a PhD to see the master plan
Of course they are, nothing else can explain what they are doing - this is a deliberate strategy not just to let the young get infected, but to do it as quickly and as comprehensively as possible. If they get away with it (and they might), Boris will declare himself a genius. If not, it will be our fault.

A fool proof plan, with no obvious downsides, innit?
Covid was just 26th on the list of killer diseases for June, its over we beat it

Malignant neoplasm of liver and intrahepatic bile ducts: 440 deaths
Malignant neoplasm of bladder: 394 deaths
Aortic aneurysm and dissection: 365 deaths Covid: 344 deaths
You are forgetting the fact that catching and dying of covid is easly avoidable and with the right measure/common sense applied those number can be reduced. The same can't be said of any of the others so even though covid is 344 deaths that's still to many for something that can be avoided.
That list also doesn't account for long covid affects plus the business/lifestyle impacts of people around you being infected.
To put covid in that list and apply any conclusion is seriously flawed.
