Ah, a screenshot of a graph from a youtube video with no details.
A bit selective and pointless. This is the professional forums, please try to be professional in them.

...but since you didn't credit your source, I found the document that the video has taken a screenshot of:
      https://www.myrmikan.com/pub/Myrmika...2025_09_09.pdf

It's about the AI bubble and the problems at the Fed.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Those charts show the effect of the general jobs market turning down in the US. We in the Tech/IT sector have been suffering for 3 years while many other sectors were doing ok, but now the down turn is more widespread.

They will cut rates interest rates more aggressively in the US now and UK will have to follow.

They may cut rates BUT inflation is rising again, so perhaps not.

On the question of number of inside vs outside contracts available, I have rss feeds on jobserve that monitor all IT inside and outside. Its not 100% reliable as the perfect search terms cannot be found, but I would say generally it is pretty accurate. Here is the post count for the last year, since Oct 2024:

            inside.rss 1654
            outside.rss 7345

So I do think there are more outside contracts than inside available.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. I think the image is pretty self explanatory, it even has a caption at the top you can read that says what is about.

Sorry, did not realize we only accept accademic standard citations on this forum!!

Stats are stats. Boots on the ground tell a very different story, at least for me as a software engineer/devops/platform guy.

Mortgage rates are going up again which suggests the banks do not believe we will bet getting any interest rate cuts anytime soon.

Interestingly, the latest ONS growth figures show the economy pretty much flatlining, however,

"Figure 3 shows 8 of the 14 services sectors contributed positively to growth. The largest positive contributor to growth was information and communication, which increased by 2.0%. Within this subsector, the largest contributor was from computer programming, consultancy and related activities, which grew by 4.1%."
