Here's something funny.

It's soon going to start costing us in the region of £200m/year to travel to the EU.

Approximately 40million* brits travel to the EU every year.
ETIAS will cost 20euro (£17) per person and lasts 3** years.

I'd be ok with it flipping back to the Tories in 29 but can't see it happening. Starmer's govt may not be popular but the Tories aren't even ahead of Labour in the polls.

If Tory support doesn't pick up in the next year or so, I wonder if they'll have the knives out for Badenoch before...

I wonder how many folks in Clacton dislike him enough to get out and vote? It might motivate some (eg. young people) who normally CBA.

The beauty of it is, by voting for Bin Face, you can stick two fingers up to Farage and the establishment.

Ch4 News interviewed people on the street in Clacton yesterday and virtually all supported Farage. A bit like Trump's MAGA lot, they don't seem to care what he does.

The interest rate on cash held in S&S ISAs (and SIPPs) is generally crap anyway. Better to have it in a money market fund.

Better still (IMO), are ETFs like XSTR (inc) and CSH2 (acc) which track SONIA.

I would have hoped they'd treat the 99k like a payment on account, so you'd only be liable for interest on the 1k net underpayment. But it wouldn't surprise me if they don't.

And BTW, having to pay 20k interest on a 1k net underpayment is...

That's HMRC appearing to be lenient but in reality not conceding anything. There wouldn't have been penalties. They'll never waive interest.

Interest isn't a penalty. It's what all taxpayers have to pay for late payment of tax. I've seen no indication that anyone will be charged actual penalties.
