Probably better not to cut, stronger pound will help with inflation....

Thats ridiculous that anything that happened during Covid can be used against you. I am sure the interviewer will understand if you take a moment to explain it to him without getting cross about it. It was after all a global emergency.
I have a few times been asked, so why this big gap...

BBC News. (2025, December 16). UK unemployment rate rises to 5.1% [Web Article]. BBC. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c98nqe0m008o
Official stats, which are never as bad as reality.
But interestingly, I look at the SOS indicator: https://www.richmondfed.o...

Crazy. US rates are high, I would quite like to work for a US tech company, as rates for perm roles are probably at least on par with what we might get in the UK outside IR35, and after-tax I am talking about. Had an interview for one during the summer, but I blew it. Would be a good market to get a...

You might be right. I was thinking the "non-technicals" had no clue what is needed so asked a developer top make a list of skills needed, and some complete geek just dumped this massive list of everything they have tried. Also can't see a recruiter knowing enough about AI to even come up with...

Black Swan protection for SIPP and ISA?
Its difficult and expensive to get a SIPP or ISA that lets you trade options, and probably a good thing too as I don't really have the know-how so might make expensive mistakes.
I am increasingly convinced that we are in for a 2001 or 2008 style melt down in the next 3 - 12 months. As such...

Also moved home and opened a bank account much more recently than 20+ years ago. Its a joke. Who did they pay to write it? Fujitsu?

On the WFH debate, can't stand it myself.
I had a fully remote contract back around 2010, first infant son just born, so no way would I get anything done at home. Borrowed an empty flat from someone who was abroad and kept an eye on it for them whilst using it as my office. Then rented...

So not just me being a numpty then. How can such a poor system be put into production and forcing people to use it? Usually uk.gov stuff is done to a decently high standard and well enough thought out, but not this one....

I wish, but we only have brollies because rule changes around IR35 mean that our clients sometimes force them on us, so I don't think the motivations for them to exist will change.
But if one brollie provider offers tailored contracts that make pension contributions more efficient it would...

For real? Can someone doing SalSac not switch things around and do it as an employer contribution instead? Obviously needs the employer to play along but in theory at least?...
