Microsoft put out a fix late last night, so it's sorted now.

Basically, no one is holding HMRC to account, which is bloody outrageous. They are a law unto themselves.

They go after the easy prey while studiously ignoring the fraudsters and wideboys because that's too hard.

(And I know I've been here for decades, but it's still shocking...

The OH has been running a scan but the PC is now coming up with “Windows security not available 0x803F8001”, I’ve just opened my laptop to check, tried to open Defender and got the same error so I immediately shut it down.

Anyone else with this problem?

Irrespective of it being an agency trick, Parasol need to give their head a shake.

You are resurrecting a five year old post, I would advice getting proper tax advice from a specialist.

I have no experience in this matter (apart from the contractor bit).

Basically, what you have described is a gamble, so what is your risk profile? You could end up working X months for nothing (quite likely), or even paying out (HMRC) for the privilege of working there (unlikely but possible)....
