    Morning all
The rain has eased since we came in from our walk.
Feels a bit like summer is over.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

      Morning denizens

For some reason, I slept very poorly last night - but then very well once the time for getting up came around; I must have turned the alarm off twice, but have no recollection of either occasion. As a result, I didn’t wake up to a sufficient degree to be aware of the fact until half eight

So I’ve had a quick rush around and have now got to cram toast and coffee down in the next few minutes before checking emails and preparing for the morning standup; I’ll have to shower later

It’s a grey and drizzly start here, and is likely to carry on in that vein. It’s 11°C (“feels like” 7°) and only going to get to 12°; the barometers have dropped to 1000/1008mB

        Morning all

Dull, overcast, damp. Currently 12 degrees and that's the high for the day. Rain expected mid-morning. Barometer down to 1009 mBar.

        Sunrise 07:34; Sunset 17:58 BST

The play was very good. I was knackered watching it, as it was all rather intense. I have no doubt the actors are worn out by the end of the evening too.

If nothing else, it helps me wake up

Lunch has been a fish finger bap with ketchup

This used up the last of the battered fish fingers I got ages ago, and also the last of the white baps I made the other week. This means I have to make more white baps, though I’ll try a different recipe as those ones weren’t as light as I would have liked. I’ll also make them smaller, as most of the previous lot were a bit too big - though this final one was just the right size, which was lucky

This morning, I was reminded that I’ve got another hour of explaining how the old project works to the other devs. Given my lack of sleep, I wasn’t looking forward to having to plough through the code I intended to talk about, as it’s probably the most utterly confusing part of the whole thing, being made up primarily of several parts which are all confusing in their own way, have had new bits added in confusing ways over the last eight years, and have been intertwingled in yet more confusing ways

But lo! we have been enrolled in the internal AI trial, which has been enabled for us as of this week, so we’re now allowed to use GitHub Copilot with Claude Code for certain things, with a lot of very strict guardrails. So I pointed it at the various bits whose workings I always struggle to remember, or understand at all, and told it to generate documentation explaining how they all work, and it did a pretty good job. I noticed one or two things on review which I had to prompt it to correct, but I was pretty satisfied with the results

If nothing else, it gets me off the hook for this afternoon. I still have the session, but there’s plenty to discuss in the documents. And the other devs will also be interested to see the AI stuff at work so if they come up with any questions I can’t answer, we can hand it over to that then review its output, which will probably be more useful than listening to me saying “Yeah, I’ve never been quite sure why it does that but it’s from 2018” repeatedly

Old arty farty thing this morning. Probably skip karaoke again this evening, too flipping tired again after another lousy nights's sleep.

In today's excitement: a parcel arrived and the recycling bins were emptied. My food waste bin was missed, so that needs to be reported. Good job it's colder out now.
