Tea was brought to me from the Indian street food place; very zingy, very tasty

Royal Mail just delivered a parcel! Pretty amazing that they’re delivering a a quarter to eight on a Saturday night

It’s an assortment of letterpress blocks off eBay, mostly Christmas-themed including numerous handwriting-style messages for the insides of cards. And somehow a block with a line drawing of a 1940s-style pin-up girl has crept in there - it’s likely it actually is from the 1940s

Monkey Life today was the last two episodes of the series

Tonight, I started reading Chindit by Richard Rhodes James, his memoir of his time in the Allied guerrilla force in Burma

      Goodnight all

        Morning.

        Sunday.

        Dry.

        Sunny.

        Blue sky.

        Grass frost. .

15.6 deg in here, 15.4 in the kitchen, 12 in the leanto, 5 out the back, 6 in the saltinghouse.

1028 mBar, 30.36 in Hg, 771 Torr, 14.9 psi, (down from 1029 last night), 62% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 6th of April 2020, between 19:34 and 20:50, in popped Brillo (with a limping cat), BR14, eek (with a recursive M$ document and an OM to make up for it), LM, and me.

Washing frenzy in progress. It's cold out there hanging stuff on the line. Brrrr.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the sunshine & cold breeze. 2 conversations.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: dashcam bollox S4 E10 (half).

Whilst scanning through the epg I found the Al Jazeera new channel was showing a thing about the septic zionist millennarian lunatic fringe and their obsession with the rapture & all that bollox. Quite frightening to think how influential these nutjobs are. We are fecking doomed.

It's clouded over, so I've brought the washing off the line since it was 97.63% dry & now it's airing upstairs.

Bed remade. Electric blanket deployed since the time of mysts & mellow fruitfulness is almost over & frosts have returned.

Tea: beans on toast with scrambled egg. Nice enough even if the toast managed to raise yet another haematoma FFS. Entertainment: the poetry thing on R4 <click>

Blazian bollox: oak island nutjobbery: digging a big feck off hole in Smith's Cove. Findings: some cobbles, some baulks of timber, some fairly obviously modern planks of wood, dug it deeper until the unsupported sides started collapsing. The metal detecting moron didn't find anything in the spoil so he fecked off. Plot 5: bit of bottle glass: neck, a bit of rusty metal which may or may not be a strap. Chap brought a GPR thingie that will fit down a borehole & found "something" at 127 feet down.

TPTV: Look at Life: The Berlin Wall.

BBC4: Stitch in Time: Dido Bell's dress.

PBS: Silent War: the shadow of atomic bombs: the difference between France & UK after 1956 & the Suez Crisis: the French decided to be independent of the septics, which subsequent events seem to indicate might have been A Fecking Good Idea.

S4C: Aberfan 60th anniversary or how Wilson took £1.5M from the charity donations to clear the tips the NCB should have cleared. They didn't mention that.

Blazian bollox: Duchovny's Secrets Declassified: The Soviet cyanide gun. MKNAOMI: the septic version with a modified M1911 and a flechette containing a toxin more toxic than mere cyanide. The WWII Japanese balloon bomb: 9000 launched, 285 reached septicland, one killed 6 people on a Sunday skool picnic. Blue Peacock: the British chicken bomb. The Tsar Bomba, all 57Mt of it. The cunning OSS plan to feed Hitler oestrogen. The OSS plan to create an ultra stink bomb. The 1959 Nixon visit to Moscow: according to this the Secret Service were using "Dosimeters" to detect "radiation": oddly the radiation referred to was microwaves which "Dosimeters" as shown in the programme won't detect at all. WTAF? Turns out the radiation was ionising which a dosimeter & film badge will detect. Gun for use on the moon by astronauts: spring propelled spherical projectile weapon: a sort of BB gun in effect. Apparently you can't use an M16 or an M14 on the moon due to "lubrication" difficulties. Have they never heard of dry lubricants such as molybdenum disulphide? Or just the run of the mill revolver which doesn't need much in the way of lubrication in the first place?

          Morning denizens

It's a sunny day with white clouds hither and yon, and still breezy enough that the present 12°C “feels like” 7°, so the predicted high of 13° probably won’t do much better. The barometers are up to 1021/1029mB

In fact, the properly-adjusted barometer app on the current iPhone says 1028.67, while the same app on the new iPhone says 1029.40. I’ll have to build my own unadjusted app and put it on the new phone to see what the difference is there

It'll come in handy after the coming apocalypse. . If only for opening cans of recalcitrant baked beans.

Afternoon all, Amsterdam calling, local time 1725

Cloudy. Currently 11 degrees and the high was 12. Barometer at 1027 mBar.

                Sunrise 08:11; Sunset 18:40 CEST

We had a superb dinner in Bucharest last night, followed by cocktails in the hotel bar. Woken at 7am by noisy cars. When I finally looked out the window, it turns out there was some kind of rally car circuit set up on the streets and our hotel was right in front of the makeshift pit area.

Uneventful journey to the airport and onwards to our intermediate stop in Amsterdam. Trying out the new Centurion lounge (lounge 50 for anyone who cares). It closes soon so will move onto the KLM lounge.

HWMBO and I part ways here, back to our respective ends of the country.

Tonight’s reading was more of Chindit in which they’ve had a lot of trouble getting their mules across the Irrawaddy River. I like the one that, with some encouragement, swam three-quarters of the way across before deciding to turn round and swim back again

I got the mundane laundry done this afternoon

And various things to do with the forum move were also done

Monday again tomorrow. But I’m off for a week after Thursday, which works out to ten days in practice!

                      Goodnight all
