    Lunch: roast beef butty

This was the first sampling of yesterday's white loaf, and it's turned out really well!

Visit to see Mum done. No dramas today.

Since last week the cheeky wotsits at Surrey County Council have added average speed cameras on the stretch of A24 betwixt North Holmwood and Beare Green. I don't think I'll have picked up a ticket...

Now to pack for tomorrow's trip.

I intended to get an early night but not quite managed that. However I did empty the bins and have a shower before unpacking what I'd packed before repacking with different clothes. I'm sure I'll still have got it wrong.

Lots of wildlife stuff as usual today, including some monkey-related matters. And the shark stuff is back again. They're repeating the Monkey Life specials about baby orangutans and wooly monkeys next week!

Tonight, I read more of Careless People. The senior management at Facebook really do seem to be the most selfish, narcissistic, hypocritical pack of scum imaginable

            Goodnight all

Granted it's not as good as some but Plaza Premium wasn't that bad when I was there in June..

                    Morning denizens

Cloudy out again, though not in a rainy way. I think there were warnings a few days ago about possible thunderstorms today, but they seem to have been rescinded. It's 17°C and working its way up to 20°, with the barometers up a little at 1006/1014mB

                      Morning.

                      Sunday.

                      Dry.

                      Grey.

                      Sunless.

Cool in here at 21 deg, 22 in the kitchen, 21 in the leanto.

1012 and a tad mBar, 29.89 in Hg, 759.25 Torr, 14.68 psi, (unchanged), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 4th of February 2020 opm, wattaj, WTFH, Brillo, BR14, NF and I popped in, while LM was having broadband problems & was using a dongle.

Freecell score: 88%, running average: 83%.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the 1945 election thing, mostly Churchill but The Milk Snatcher and the Micro Penised Orange Moron (plus his bearded blunder) appeared in E19.

More minor potching in the garage.

                      It's rained a little.

                      Entertainment: The Repaire Shoppe:

                      https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod...s-9-episode-32

Bit of a sad one this: the lady never got to hear the repaired wireless built by her father during WWII on Jersey.

                      Or, more concisely:

They made valves to last in those days.

                      Tea: beans on toast etc.

                      Entertainment: book. POTW.

TalkingPicturesTV: "Look at Life": the Post Office Tower. What a long long time ago 1963 was. Even then they were foretelling the use of the laser for comms. Just hadn't figured out that glass would work as a waveguide.

BBC Alba: "A song of Crotal and White" 1969, the Isle of Lewis: more from Finlay J. McDonald (he used the title for a book about 10 years later). I'd forgotten that crotal is lichen used to dye sheep's wool.

Ah, so "waulking" the tweed is fulling it. By hand.

It rained more, then the sun came out.

Thing on Alba about WWII commando training in the Scotish Highlands. Lord Lovat and David Niven featured.
