No specific plans for the day. Will try and get Mum out of the house at some point.

Darn it, me computer won't turn on. Had intermittent problems with mouse not working and flickering screen this week. Good thing I kept this old Windows 10 one in the spare room.

        Morning denizens

It’s a sunny day with just some high areas of mares’ tails here and there, and feels quite mild. It is, in fact, 16°C with an expected high of 19°, and the barometers are lingering around 1016/1024mB

I awoke fairly early and went back to sleep, then awoke at a more reasonable time but went back to sleep again before I could do anything about it, finally awakening once more, but rather later than I’d planned! I felt better for the extra sleep though

Got Mum to "help" me in the garden. I hacked at some roses and battled my way past huge, ugly spiders to get rid of some thistles. The garden waste bin is too full for a big tidy up as my brother mowed the lawns earlier in the week.

Mum is now obsessing over cleaning the bird bath. At least she's stopped putting bleach in it.

There wasn’t any wildlife stuff this afternoon because they put women’s football on instead

Teatime viewing was another episode of Emergency 24/7 in which they did a remarkably good job of saving a chap’s fingers after he’d had a mishap with a circular saw

And tonight, I finished reading the excellent Old Baggage - I was nearer the end than I’d thought, as they’d done that thing of putting an excerpt from the next book (temporally speaking in the world of the books, though written before it) at the end. So I resumed Octavia E. Butler’s Lilith’s Brood trilogy with part two, Adulthood Rites

Monday again tomorrow. Two more after that before I’m on holiday

              Goodnight all

                Morning.

                Monday.

                Damp.

                Grey.

                Sunless.

Misty. Can't see across the valley again, boyo.

18.8 deg in here, 18.9 in the kitchen, 17 in the leanto, 15 out the back.

1018.5 mBar, 30.08 in Hg, 763.9 Torr, 14.77 psi, (down from 1019 last night), 70% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 5th/6th of April 2020: as per yesterday.

Further out of town: Jack Hargreaves & his step son: pottering about flitting from task to task in the garden, never finishing one before going on to the next. Sheep sale. Counting the number of teeth to figure out how old a given sheep is.

                Still grey: now drizzling.

Shopping trip to Morrisons damply done, washed dried, sanitised & put away. Managed to use the assorted special offer thingies to end up with a £5 voucher for next time. Even bought some fish fingers just to get more points.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: dashcam bollox S4 E6. Scottish Islands thing 6/6: Fetlar, Yell, Unst, Muckle Flugga.

Walk (abbreviated, towpath) walked, initially in grey gloom, then in drizzle.

Entertainment: Alaska Homestead Rescue: one of them (Misty) was off with plague, so the other two dealt with a homestead in Montana in a national forest of some kind, where the owners of the 40 acres were an ex fireman with a bad back & a trick knee, and his wife with neck injuries she'd got from falling over on the ice. Plus a friend of their daughter who lived in a log cabin elsewhere on the homestead & at the age of 23 was pretty impressive workwise. A bunch of the ex fireman's mates came in for 4 days to lend a hand, which was good of them.

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc. Nice to get back to "normal" now the has retreated somewhat.

Entertainment: PM. <click> Another irritating female presenter.

                Book.

Bab5 S4 E19 "Between the darkness & the light". Garibaldi leaps into action to save Sheridan.

Maigret Goes Home (1995). Cremer. Back to the place he grew up.

The final 10 minutes of The Oak Island nutjobbery: as ever no reference to the previous ep & they're digging a big feck off hole in Smith's Cove again. Haven't they done that several times before?

History's Mysteries: The Turin Shroud <click> Even more bolloxy than Oak Island.

After last week's disaster with the Morgan 4/4, this week Anstead is fecking up a tractor FFS. <click>.

Stratocumulus to the north and east, with mares’ tails to the south and west. Diagnosis: rain, but not today, according to the forecast. It’s 14°C and will soar to a balmy 21° for a while this afternoon, though it’s a bit breezy with it. The barometers are down to 1011/1019mB

WTF? Was going to phone the local computer shop re repair to my PC but just tried it one last time and it's working again.

Old fart lunchy thing later. Nice chat at village club with next door neighbour yesterday, we used to be enemies years ago over a land dispute but get on ok now.
