We were running early so popped into Liberty as their Christmas shop is open and so we went for a look at the stupidly expensive baubles you can buy for your tree.
On entering our pre-booked eatery, I received a call from an agent about a role I'd applied for. The signal was crap and I didn't fancy trying to have a discussion in a restaurant so they agreed to call back at 3.30 pm. They didn't call me back.
Lunch, however, was delicious and we left feeling very stuffed. We initially planned an afternoon of cocktails but curtailed it in favour of me trying to get a job, and instead headed straight back home. Oh well.
I’ve decided there’s no need to go shopping this week; the freezer is too full again, so I need to work through some of that. Next week is Viz week, so it’ll be a trip to Big Sainsbury’s
Jack Hargreaves would have concurred when the buggers were eating his strawberries in the garden.
Morning.
Friday.
Grey.
Sunless.
19.9 deg in here, 19.3 in the kitchen, 18 in the leanto, 17 out the back.
1020 mBar, 30.12 in Hg, 765 Torr, 14.794 psi, (up from 1018 last night), 69% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 5th of April 2020, between 19:29 and 20:33, in popped BR14 for the first time in pages, along with LM, MrMarkyMark, NF, WTFH, and me.
Entertainment: Jack Hargreaves with Simon Baddeley Further Out of Town: a compilation of the location films that lack Jack's "potting shed" links. Inneresting to see him without his beard in one of them. Brownsea Island's red squirrels. Garden pests. Wild flowers. Apparently he didn't like shooting things in the garden (i.e. rabbits, jays, tree rats). I'd have thunk a suppressed .22LR would have been ideal for that &, apart from the jays, you eat the results.
Bob Ross painting stuff. This one's all shades of brown. Apart from the sun, which wasn't.
Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the grey gloom. Did see a shadow at one point. One conversation.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: The food programme: food awards.
Dashcam bollox S4 E5. Scottish Islands thing: Skye, Soay, Canna. Ian Fleming's dad Valentine Fleming was in there somewhere, plus the house that the Skyfall house was based on, being Fleming's childhood home.
Unknotted & rewound yet more fishing line. Well it's sommat to do though I do wonder why I bother. The pike lure is quite impressive.
Alaska Homestead Rescue: two 1 hour eps E13, E14. Hope they're better than yesterday's lunacy of doing up someone's weekend 2nd home built on a ridge in the middle of nowhere. If those people yesterday had anything donated by "the community" then it's a disgrace. Gosh. It's amazing how 3000 gallons (US) can disappear from a new duck pond down an armadillo burrow. I'd have thunk a couple or three bags of bentonite clay down the hole would have done the needful doings. This lot were much more involved in their Alto, Tx, homestead than the dome dwellers ever were. Yesterday's cougar looked as if she was wearing high heels during some of it.
Tea: soup etc. Entertainment: PM. Book. News Quiz.
It's raining.
Bab5 S4 E18 "Intersections in Real Time". Sheridan interrogated by nasty man. Alright if you like that sort of thing but a bit boring otherwise. The story resumes on Monday with E19 being more inneresting.
Taggart S17 E4 "Football crazy". Funny how one remembers odd bits after all these (25) years: the team training bit in particular where the temporary "manager" is training the team for endurance rather than speed & agility. WTF I should remember that is a mystery wrapped in an enigma.
As is becoming the usual Friday morning thing, I awoke later than if I’d had an alarm, decided to get up, immediately went back to sleep, and finally arose on the second awakening an hour later
It’s sunny with some cloud out there today and a bit windy, becoming even windier after lunch. It remains reasonably mild though: 16°C (“feels like” 13°) with an expected high of 20°, and resurgent barometers at 1017/1024mB
morning chaps and chapesses,
been busy this week, trying to train a new PM.
as usual, an uphill struggle.
still, as they say in the trade........... kerCHING!!!
It's a lovely sunny afternoon with lumps of fluff and a gentle breeze. Currently 19 degrees and that is also the high for the day. Barometer at 1030 mBar.
Sunrise 07:04; Sunset 18:38 BST
Had an actual meeting at gig1 this morning with a little bit of follow up that justified the billing.
Then I drove down to Mum's as my brother is at the Swanage Blues Festival this weekend. His band has a gig and he's hoping to see a few other bands play too.
On the way down, I was called by the agent that didn't call me yesterday. All very positive, and they'll be putting me forward for the role.
