My brother came home earlier than I expected so we had time for a chat before I left. He had a great time at the blues festival and says Swanage is a very nice place to visit.
The drive home was pleasant and the sun came out as forecast. It's now a lovely afternoon.
Stopped at Tesco with the aim of topping up the tonic stash before the current offer ends. The shelf was completely bare and the price it will be tomorrow was being displayed. Cheeky.
I then stopped at my storage place to pull a few bits out and look for my grandmother's birth and death certificates to finally get some progress on the Irish passport application. They're somewhere in there but not in the boxes I expected, which means a more in depth rummage will be needed. There is a heck of a lot of junk in that unit and I'm inclined to just take it all to the tip.
Another Monday done. Only two more before my break!
This afternoon, I finally got around to turning my developer laptop on again to check there wasn’t anything on there that I needed. There wasn’t, so I shut it down, disconnected the cables (HDMI - mine, a USB lead - mine, mains - its own), dusted it, got its box down from on top of a bookshelf where it’s sat since 2023, dusted that as well, and packed it away. I didn’t get it as neat as they do at the factory but I still had all the little bits of card and paper and so on, so it’s all wrapped up much the same as when it was new. Ave atque vale; I’ve done a lot of work on that machine, and even enjoyed some of it
I don’t know how it’s supposed to get back to London. Were I to venture down there, I could drop it off at the service desk on the ground floor of the Admiralty, but I’m not going all that way just for that. Apparently they’ll be in touch to arrange something sometime
This was one the TTD burgers that are a bit smaller but have a really nice flavour. I’m out of sesame seed buns so I need to make some; the question is, do I make them smaller to fit one of these burgers, or larger so I can get two in them
This evening’s viewing was fare dodgers. The chap who always topped up his Oyster card in a shop next to a Tube station in West London but only ever tapped in 45 minutes later at a station in East London hadn’t really thought things through
Later, I continued reading Adulthood Rites. It’s good, but reading about future humans gradually being hybridised by aliens is a bit of a switch from stories of wartime life in Hampstead
It’s relatively mild still, the colder weather having not yet arrived. Currently 14°C and the expected high for the day is 20°, but the barometers are continuing downwards to 1007/1015mB
There's a 15% chance of rain around 23:00 but then more rain expected overnight, and the night’s low of 15° is also tomorrow’s high! So definitely getting a bit chillier

Alaska Homestead rescue: yet another nutter one would assume. There's a lot of empty space in SepticLand. Ah. High desert in a box canyon with no water, lots of scree, and cliffs behind the house. 40 acres: 39.5 acres being close to vertical. And Matt was off in Alaska whilst his wife had a baby. And, and the homestead was infested with bears and mountain lions, no cougar in this one. .

This afternoon HWMBO's eldest arrives to stay for a couple of days. It's going to be a bit crowded in my little flat until they both go home on Friday.
Got an update from the agent who I spoke to on Friday - my details are with the client and they will be regularly nagged for a decision.
