This evening’s viewing was the rest of the fare dodgers thing from yesterday

And tonight I started reading Crooked Heart which is the Lissa Evans novel I ought to have read before V for Victory. I’m quite happy to have got them the wrong way round though, as the hints and gradual revelation of the characters’ past doings added a touch of intrigue. I’m already over a hundred pages into this one

    Goodnight all

      Morning.

      Wednesday.

      Damp.

      Grey.

      Not misty.

      Wan hints of sun.

20.2 deg in here, 20.3 in the kitchen, 19 in the leanto, 17 out the back.

1017.5 mBar, 30.05 in Hg, 763.2 Torr, 14.7575 psi, (down from 1018.5 last night), 70% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 4th of April 2020, between 22:07 and 23:48, in popped LM, MrMarkyMark, NF, WTFH, and I, whereas on the 5th of April 2020, between 03:32 and 07:34, NF held the fort until Brillo turned up.

Entertainment: Jack Hargreaves Old Country: making an eel trap (for your hovercraft?) out of a ring of hazel, an old sack, a brick, some straw & some string. A dipper nesting next to a disused mill on a chalk stream in Dorset near zigzag hill. The disused water wheel was made by E. S. Hindley.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the greyish gloom. 3 conversations. One lady is having a smart meter installed, poor thing, as arranged by her son.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: dashcam bollox S3 E8.

Scottish Islands thing: North Ronaldsay, Papa Stronsay, Egilsay, South Ronaldsay, Tomb of Eagles, Stroma.

Scamming phonecall on the landline: it was long enough to go to answerphone. The card transaction scam.

More decimation of brambles: next door again. Feck some of those bastards are too thick for secateurs so I used the Lidl(tm) cropper thing that does the business. Pile o'tulipe now very large indeed. Looking forward to November 5th. .

It was sunny and pleasant. Still is.

Entertainment (non thorny): Alaska Homestead thingy: a micro homestead in Mississippi. Ye haw & all that. Feck me talk about waterlogged. It seemed almost as bad as that swamp cum marsh cum bog in Alaska except the days were shorter and the weather warmer. Complicated by the owners not knowing WTF the actual borders of their plot were.

Tea: Tesco battered haddock (I assume, it was certainly battered something). Nice enough.

      Entertainment: PM.

Jack Hargreaves Out of Town. David Boag the Kingfisher man again. Collection of curious models of horses & carts by some unknown artist.

Bab5 S4 E11 "Lines of communication". Sheridan set up his very own Fox News in competition with the lies from Earth.

70 up. How it all started.

Blazian bollox: what on earth? Black blob off Florida: red tide. Wilkesland Antarctica masscon: giant impact crater, possibly dating to 250My. Kalahari spirals: farmer with tractor. Holland "murder scene". Plane crash in Sahara caught on satellite camera.

Blazian bollox: what on earth? Iranian fake Nimitz: used for target practice. Mt Shasta, California: collection of mounds: probly made by gophers over millennia. Rectangle near Petra: "might be" some sort of religious site. Extreme Parking art installation: mini on side of building. Bronze age site in Russia: dunno whence they came or where they went: stayed there 1000 years. Boko Haram murderous scum. Satellites not much good for offing those bastards. Or finding the skool girls.

        Morning denizens

        Happy Autumnal Equinox!

It seems a bit cloudier today, with more of a breeze, and it’s expected to rain through lunchtime. Still not too cold though: currently 16°C and expected to reach 20° for a bit this afternoon. The barometers are heading downwards at 1011/1019mB

          Morning all

Alternating between blue sky with lumps of fluff and cloudy with gaps so far today. Weather app says there's no cloud. Currently 21 degrees ('feels like' 24) with a high of 23 expected. Barometer down to 1024 mBar.

          Sunrise 06:49; Sunset 18:57 BST

Got a call at 8.30 am about a gig. Turns out it was a gig wanting one person to do two or more jobs and you had to have ALL the experience. Half of it I could do, the other half not so much. Meh.

            Lunch: a Pukka steak slice

It’s getting gloomier by the minute here so I expect the rain to start soon - which will interrupt the magpies, who are foraging down on the big lawn

The cloud has dissipated a lot here and is looking more like the description in my weather app.

It’s brightened up again now - just a few high wisps and a dispersing vapour trail in the sky

Today was reasonably productive. It was a bit of a three-way split: I finished off the thing I wanted to work on, dealt with some new issues around working in the VDE, and also tried to help out another dev who’s having trouble getting PyCharm set up in there

And the 1,600-thread-count duvet cover is drying in the machine. It’s sufficiently thick and heavy that it gets its own wash/dry cycle. Must be all those threads

Tea has been some rather nice herb sausages with chips and beans

Along with that, it’s back to New York in the homicide programmes, in which a wealthy associate of Trump is about to discover (or rather, was about to in 2014) that boasting to the police that they won’t find video evidence of a crime isn’t a good idea, particularly when they already have it

Just back from local history society talk. Not bad.
