I wonder if holy willy'll allow this post, since he seems to prefer greedy, self centered bampots with no social ethics to plain speaking peops like me.
two weeks in, and i'm knackered!

    and, of course,

    kerCHINGGGG!!

    have a nice weekend* all

I had a doughnut earlier and managed to get the jam pretty much everywhere except in my gob.

I've got to go to the dentist (dental hygienist, to be precise) tomorrow. It was going to be mid-afternoon but they phoned up the other day asking to change it to lunchtime

Watched some TdF to try and clear the backlog of stages I've not yet seen.

Only the highlights show. I'm not a masochist.

Very disappointed that this is the last year of ITV coverage and there's currently no free to air coverage planned from 2026 onwards.

In The Corner That Held Them, the custos appointed by the bishop ended up spending a week or more on a wild goose chase involving blacksmiths and lepers when he tried to do something about the rent owing from a remote farm. He didn't get any rent either. But it made a nice change for him and he learnt some new music (though the chap he learnt it from was then killed by a marauding gang of robbers). He doesn't like the bishop much, and he thinks the nuns are OK

Early night now so I'm on good form for tomorrow's dentistry

                Goodnight all

                  Morning denizens

Grey start, with some rain recently and more to come! Looks as though it will largely be more drizzle than deluge, though. Quite mild with it, being 18°C now and rising to 20° around teatime when the rain peters out. The barometers are down to 995/1002mB

Dentistry followed by shopping later. I doubt anybody can think of a better way of spending Saturday than that

                    Morning.

                    Saturday.

                    Damp.

                    Grey.

                    Wanly sunny.

Cool in here at 21.6 deg, 18.5 in the kitchen (that's the temperature on the floor), 21 in the leanto.

Meanwhile on the 2nd of February 2020 BR14 popped in despite the ban, LM appreciated her blackout blinds and baked her Nan's pink iced cake, Scruff popped in, DaveB popped in, I went for a walk & noted that the litter was increasing again, WTFH popped in, DaveB put a blind back up and upgraded to Catalina (whatever that is), and NF popped in.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Dead Ringers. EOS.

More gentle potching in the garage: today more screws were sorted: in particular the 2BA and 4BA screws & nuts, with a few 6BA showing up here & there.

In other news re the above, I seem to have used all the little drawer thingies that used to contain punched tape programs for the Fairchild 4000 automatic tester. Plainly I didn't steal enough of them. . There's even a reel of that metalised mylar stuff in there somewhere: the stuff we stopped using because it gave people electric shocks when they wound it back up again.

Entertainment: the Stonehenge thing: cosmic, man. WTF are the Krishna lot doing there on the Solstice?

Tea: soup etc. Entertainment: the 1945 election thing.

A sprinkling of rain: big black cloud though. Obviously wasn't trying very hard.

Maigret and the old lady (1960). Don't need the subtitles on this one. . And it's shorter.

I observe that "The Deadly Affair (1967)" is gracing the idiot lantern this evening: it's the Le Carre "Call for the Dead" where George Smiley is renamed "Charles Dobbs" for whatever crazy reason.

Massive Engineering Mistakes S6 E6: Glasgow Skool of Art, Charles Rennie McIntosh, burned down twice in 4 years: first time due to flammable foam in a student project in the basement: 2nd time: unknown. Spread due to lath & plaster walls, plus timber heating ducts. Edgecumbe, Bay of Plenty, NZ: stop bank failed causing flooding. La Porte, Houston, Tx, insecticide plant: methyl mercaptan leak following production shutdown, killing 4. Hemingford, Nebraska, 600m antenna tower failure due to errors during updation.

E7: Fremont, Nebraska: Pathfinder Hotel 1976: explosion & fire due to gas leak, killing 20. Covington, Tennessee: bridge failure due to change of course of river scouring foundations, 8 dead. Lac Megantic, Quebec: railway accident: parked runaway crashed, caught fire, killed 47, due to brake failure as air pressure in braking system was lost. Sydney Australia: triangular tower: lack of grout caused hob beam failure. Expensive fix.

                      Morning all

Raining. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 22 expected. Rain set to continue on and off for the rest of the day. No thunderstorms forecast here, despite the warning in my weather app. Barometer down to 1005 mBar.

                      Sunrise 05:07; Sunset 21:08 BST

I was woken around 06:30 by the rain which paused for a while and then returned about an hour ago.

Off to Westfield, Shepherds Bush, to give blood today. And look for a birthday present for HWMBO's youngest.

Bed stripped and airing. First load in the WM.
