Morning all dog walked, sky brightening.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

We seem to already be at 21 degrees!

Laundry (mostly smalls) in the WM. The clean bed linen is piled up on the chair in my bedroom awaiting folding and putting away.

Still haven't hoovered. I need to do dusting too.

        Rained a little.

              Greetings virtual peeps.

I go full-time as a permanent civil servant in the centre of government tomorrow, working on national stuff. You know, the Masters of the Dark Side. I'll put in the odd bad word about IR35, should I get the chance (although it's not that ministry). But it does mean I expect my login(s)* on here won't work any more, what with being a permie and all.

Oh, I got two degrees since I was last posting on here and I've found they are more useful in getting interviews and gigs than all those vocational qualifications and professional memberships I spent years and thousands and thousands of pounds upon. And both degrees are in the arts, studied for interest. It turns out I was wrong all along and bulltulip and bluster really are more important than proof of ability. I've just landed the most specialist techie gig I've ever had and the irrelevant degrees were essentials for selection. The world's fecked.

But it does mean I stop going out to work every day to sit in an open plan office with others as I have done every day for the past four months, to actually working from home for the first time in my life. For an employer who only met me briefly in an interview right back at the start of the year. Weird. I get to manage my own time, my own work, use my own kit and facilities. There's no leave record, no core hours, just a letter of engagement saying what I'll be working on (i.e. delivering) rather than a contract. I'm more IR35-proof now than I have been at any time since 1995! And the pension's better than that fecking rob-dog personal private one I put a fortune into which is now empty , courtesy of the finance sector bastards needing to upgrade their Beemers every year.

Anyway, I got cake to eat. Enjoy the day.

              Hi RC!

FFS. Today was supposed to see the return of Monkey Life to our screens, but it's been supplanted by association football

Apparently they're trying to get through all the games that were cancelled by the pandemic, which means showing them live on every available channel at all times or something

Lunch was cheese and beans on toast. Wherein cheese on toast is made and topped with beans.

I am aware of an alternate method, that I deem more suitable for a cheese and beans jacket potato, where the toast is buttered, then topped with beans and grated cheese.

Look on the bright side, there'll be no rugby for yonks++.

In other news, the roast beef was as meh as usual, the rice pud took longer to cook (or I didn't put it in early enough) so is currently cooling in the (switched off) microwave so I can portion it out as usual.

Had to decant today's portion into a bowl so it cooled down a bit.

I normally eat it out of the dish*.

*Cuts down the washing up, which I'm definitely in favour of doing, similarly with the morning porridge.
