A poor night's sleep, not helped by a pile of books falling over at 03:30ish.

It's grey today, just for a change, with the living room at 20.4, the laundry room min was 17.4 and it's currently 18 in there.

          Morning
          Same here, unsurprisingly.

            Morning denizens

Patchy cloud out; or patchy sunshine, depending on how Polyanna-ish one is feeling, I suppose

              Very grey out there now.

In with the hoi polloi again.

              And it's a Lego day.

Painted the "repaired" front gate and dobbed some more wet rot wood hardener on the kitchen windowsill.

This last seems to be a biennial or triennial task.

Now to get some wood filler so at least it'll look reasonable when it's painted.

I wonder if I should try that 10 year paint stuff.

It doesn't play well with other paints though.

I might just stick to dulux.

Lunch was faggots & peas with onion gravy, Morrisons, reduced, improved recipe which made them much less tasty.

              Twas ever thus.

Met a couple of people I knew on the trudge around town, which was pleasant.

Right then. Twitter are turning off their streaming APIs tomorrow because they're gits, so I've got to completely rewrite the bot that saves everything off my timeline

Luckily I wrote it in such a way that it's decoupled from the rest of the application by a message queue, so there's only a single component to reimplement to use a completely different API. Still annoying though

Went to see my mate Martin this afternoon.

                  He collects wood.

So I took him 3 lawn bowls.

That turned out to be plastic.

He's got bowel cancer & as a result a colostomy, poor sod.

                  Another round of chemo tomorrow.

In other news, tea was M&S breaded haddock, not so over cooked, followed by custard with added stewed apple.

                  It was very nice.

And the rusty gate got another coat of that fairly useless Hammerite stuff "just paint it over the rust" my arse, while the wood hardener got applied to the kitchen windowsill yet again.

I suspect there's more paint than metal on the gate and more hardener than wood on the windowsill.

Slightly amused by a FB comment about the new slough of despond.

My attitude is new building same old tulipe and now I have a window that looks into a lab instead of out over the bay.

My eternal thanks to the curly headed c**t from Carmarthen.

                  I do so like alliteration.

Today I made the mistake of purchasing "Killing Gunther" solely because Arnie is in it.

                      https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5689068/

                      Oh Dear (tm).

50 minutes in and a) no sign of Arnie and b) it's an unfunny comedy.

                      I've laughed twice so far.

                      3 times.

But I'm watching the sink hole thing on 5+1 at the moment, or would be if the ads weren't on. :

Plenty of time to finish Gunther a bit later.

It finally comes alive when Arnie turns up.

And that's where most of the funny bits are.

                      Ho hum.

                      Worse things happen at sea.

Oh, and the A40 sinkhole in Carmarthen was on the sinkhole thing.

                      Arnie wasn't in that either.
