"Nick" is just a name, perhaps even a "Nickname".
You'd not read MLFTB written by Cummerbund, because it's the name that gives the posts their gravitas.
    • The original NickFitz retired 15 years ago to the Cayman Islands.
    • Clooney was the original Nick's accountant, but when Nick was ready to retire, Clooney was given the login details and gradually took over
    • Cummerbund took over Clooney's accountancy firm, and then took over the role of Nick.
    • Then it went to Ryan, but the less we say about him the better... him and his software upgrades!
    • Eastleigh is the current "Nick", but he's making mutterings about retiring.
    • Next in line is Pierre. (which would be novel, since others think it should be Inigo)
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

All we need now is for ChatGPT to write those articles and for those websites to publish them at those URLs

At the start of Feb I asked ChatGPT to write an essay on me, here it is with my comments: https://courtg9000.wordpress.com/202...-with-chatgpt/

I then repeated the exercise more recently which is here: https://courtg9000.wordpress.com/202...gets-it-right/

I had an issues querying a table, someone had decided to store invoice items in Json. It's not often I need to use tsql and json tbh but I managed to query the json for an item id but I wasnt sure if it was just pulling back the first item in the json or checking all the items.

I didnt really know what to google for, usually this would have meant that I would probably have to read several stackoverflow answers that may then lead to a command, then read a couple of articles to get it to do what i want.

Anyway, gave chatgpt what I had and said what I wanted to achieve and within a second had a fully working solution. I tested it to confirm it worked as expected. Probably worth that months 20 quid just for saving me an hour of frustation.

I think this is currently where it shines - sometimes you can explain to a person but you don't know how to phrase as a search term or question - and we know that posting any kind of vague question on Stack Exchange will lead to a feeding frenzy

Google's Bard tool gives you links to the places it has gathered its data from which seems far more useful in this regard - GPT suffers from "pub expert" syndrome where it tells you everything with utter confidence and zero supporting evidence, which can easily fool a casual user who doesn't know how to smell when something isn't quite right in a seemingly plausible answer.

                    oh thanks that is handy.

On one of the groups I am a member of we were discussing using AI for data quality. Plenty of good ideas there but as you say pub expert style confidence isn't what you want when changing billions of fields of data.

I think Bing Chat does the same thing with the links but it seems pretty crap compared to GPT-4.

What was the plan to use AI for data quality and billions of fields of data?
