AS long as teachers make it clear it is their opinion rather than presenting their views as accepted fact, I don't really see the issue.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishing -

Funny how "algebra" and "algorithm" both come from Arabic then
Well, the concept of zero came originally from India, but entered Europe via the Arabs. So, yes, as well as algebra and algorithms, the Arabs also contributed zero to (western) mathematics. Gawd bless 'em for it.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Please cite a peer reviewed precise for this. It's scientific fact that vegetarian diets are more ecologically sound.
Also back to the root cause. The ironing involved in preaching this in schools.Comment

I got it because when I was a teen I looked up (ok asked a teacher and then went to the library) where some basic mathematical concepts came from."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Are you genuinely this thick? How many calories does a field of wheat provide? How many cows/sheep can be supported on that field? Cow many calories do you get from a cow.Originally posted by NigelJK View Post

It's called the food-chain, it's been known about for centuries... go away and think of a proper argument instead of trolling even Trump would find weak. This is why meat is expensive and poor people can't afford it...Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

ISTR that it takes 20 tonnes of grass to produce a tonne of beef.
Anyway, the whole problem is that kids these days aren't taught to think, they are taught to pass exams, and exams that are written to a very precise (and very limited) agenda*. And what's worse, their teachers are products of the same process, so they lack the verbal and intellectual knowledge (not skills, many are really quite bright) to understand the difference between learning and thinking. Damnit all, a lot of them are nearly illiterate, having been taught to read by the stupid method of recognising spoken words and guessing how they are spelled. Watch any TV quiz with a young person in it and their breadth of general knowledge and ability to think through a question to an answer is appallingly low.
*Also remember that school funding is dependent on pass rates for those exams, not the resultant abilities of the pupils...Blog? What blog...?
