I'm just being silly, that sounds like exactly the sort of issue. Although is vegetarianism a political view? A school could strongly encourage any pro-environment measures (in fact they might be obligated to do so) and could decide to run a vegetarian canteen for school dinners, but they surely cannot ban meat being brought in. Back to Jamie Oliver smuggling kebabs through the school gates...

I don't agree with that at all. It's a view being enforced on the children which should not happen in a school. Activities to encourage understanding of the issue yes. Making it affect what you eat and taking choice away absolutely not.

It's scientific fact that vegetarian diets are more ecologically sound. In many countries the school meals will be vegetarian as the norm - meat being a special occasion.
What's your argument a school has to offer meat? Where's the line? Can they stop serving red meat?

And if they don't like it they can have packed lunch which can have meat in it.

There are actually nurseries and pre-schools that only serve vegetarian meals because it is easy way of dealing with the parents individual dietary requirements for their child. A primary school doing the same could claim to for the same reasons unless the leadership team haven't thought things though like in this case.
