Taliban apparently entering Kabul right now. Makes you wonder what 20 years of training the Afghan troops and supplying weapons etc by Nato has achieved.

It was 20 years training the Taliban although NATO had not figured it out.

A little after the US withdrawal from Vietnam, and following the breakdown of a Sino-Soviet agreement, China invaded Vietnam from the North, while supporting the Kmher Rouge invasion from the West. The Viet-Cong systematically beat the crap out of both invading armies, thanks to the excellent training they'd received from the US.

Meanwhile, IIRC, "we" were supporting dear old Pol Pot & his Merry Men for reasons too depressing to discuss.

Simple. Bush was not going to attack Saudi Arabia, commercially or militarily, but he had to show the Merkins that he was not afraid to react to the 9-11 attacks. Equally Biden has made a massive cock-up that will ruin his presidency. A classic case of two wrongs failing to make a right.

Well, it did lead to the end of the Khmer Rouge and the Killing Fields.

Maybe he should ask his boss who was VP for 8 years with Obama why that thinking did not apply back then or certainly after they nabbed Bin Laden.
