Funny coincidence as I discovered just yesterday that many modern cars don't have spare wheels when I checked to see if the 2015 van I brought a couple of months ago had one. Does fortunately.bloggoth

Yeah labour is cheaper but still the saving isnt as big as i thought.
When my merc was 3.5 years old the aux battery failed, the dealer said it was £120 but they charged me £30 (including labour) because the car was recently out of warranty and i had always serviced it with them. They were not being charitable, the aux battery probably only costs them £30.
If i had taken it to a specialist, the specialist would have charged me £120 + labour as they would have bought the part full price from the Merc dealer with full mark up applied.
