Broke down at dunnet head (most northerly point of Scotland and even less there than in the imposter John o Groats) in a 69 GLE 350d. Mercedes roadside got local guy out to us who declared it was beyond him. Arranged a like for like temporary car which they had to drive up from Aberdeen as Inverness didn't have one. Relayed the broken vehicle down to Edniburgh garage near the in laws where it was ready 7 days laters when we landed there having finished our trip - no pressure to get to Edinbirgh early to swap the temp for our own.
Can't say I have any issues with them.

Car delivered back!
Thought I'd have to go pick it up...
Damage: £65 recover (cheap!), £275 for each tyre - VAT on top.
They noticed something odd upfront when driving, will be bringing car for check up next week or so.
Top service from local specialist!

I have had a few Mercs over the years. C-class, a few others and an S500 I had for a little while. (Great car that)
A GLA is a possibility for my next steer which I have already discounted.
Mercedes customer service has steadily got worse over the years. From the point of 1st entry into the showroom through to delivery and then aftersales/service and indeed roadside assist.
After about 2010, the only time I got good customer service from Mercedes was with the S-Class. I looked at the GLA about 4 years ago and my local dealership couldn't have given less of a tulip and they really weren't trying that hard to drive my business away to a competitor marque.
Its like someone at Merc HQ has written a memo to staff saying "only bother with the customer if they are buying top of the line, otherwise don't waste time"
