    2 weeks indeed

I have been waiting for the past 5.5 months now, not just 2 weeks ( I finished my most recent contract at the end of March 2020). And that was the end.

I mentioned specifically the past 2 weeks because this is the most recent period of no calls for me. Hence I asked.
Earlier months I used to receive calls, but they were all fishing calls with fake jobs from low lives.

End of May for me. The return to school bounce doesn't seem to have happened.

Personally, I have had zero contacts from pimps for the past 2 weeks.
Had applied for quite a few roles.
It is hard enough going from a contracting career to permiedom, convincing both agents and clients you arent going to jump ship for a new contract when the market picks up, at the best of times.

Now, there are permies looking for permie work as well as contractors looking for a shelter. People should be under no illusion, it's going to be very tough and if you havent got a big warchest behind, it's going to be even tougher.

          Thank you

Thanks to everyone who advised. I went ahead with the interviewing process for the perm role go through to the final stage and did a 3 hour interview. Initial feedback was good. Then got told they found someone better... .

Back to job hunting and like most of you all no calls...

A client who I've interviewed with about a month ago calls me up once per week to tell me they're still interviewing more candidates and they haven't made any decision yet. Its really annoying now because I'm clearly a backup plan

                That is just annoying.

                But it's prevalent.

In the last contract, we had to bring on board a consultancy to supply bodies. I found five consultancies, and we had them on a couple of calls each. This was towards the end of last year and I had set the expectation that we would be offering to one consultancy Before Xmas.

Even knowing this, and around beginning December, there were a few that said, perhaps we can talk to two more. I said no. Whatever deficiencies we unearth while working, we Will choose before Xmas we will manage them through the process. And so we chose. And they are still there.

I am a project manager and that was my day off from PowerPoint.

If and when you get another offer you can bin it off. Then 10 minutes later they will ring up and offer you the contract.

Nice of them to keep you in the loop.

                      Worrying indeed.

I think the IT market as we knew it, is dead now. No respect or value.
There are so many desperate IT people available now, client co. are seriously thinking maybe if they waited a little bit more, they might get even cheaper resource, since anyone is expected to do anything, no specialisation exists anymore.

I see in LinkedIn so many with that openToWork badge sitting there begging for work literally, and churning out and showing off their new certs.

Every developer, BA, DevOps,and even Scrum masters are now a AWS, Azure & Kubernetes certified Solution Architect ..., and every one is angular, react, react native expert... these certs have become of no value these days I think

Everyone is saying they are interested in the role with their openToWork badge, and come after several weeks or months and they are still looking for work there... meaning, no one is getting anything sorted.

                      Dear! Its chaos brewing.

And indeed, just wait until furlough ends for permies... next month. Chaos is round the corner!
