It's globalisation and the way business has worked since the Industrial Revolution. If you look back through history the UK, and the wider west, were market leaders in various industries then what we now call the developing world comes along and slowly become the main suppliers and producers.

I do think we went over the top with IT (and apparently wider STEM) visas in the last couple of decades and now we have an oversaturated market but it is really difficult for the government to stop companies off shoring services, especially as most large companies are basically international concerns now and don't really have an allegiance to the UK.

I don't need to think. It is business trying to reduce expenses and increase profits.

Maybe read up on the Spanish tradition of naming children for instance. The issue was your perception of "whiteness" I thought, but then you observe the names of people in the Leed's Home Office and then jump to a connection /relationship of the "foreign" sounding names. What were these family names then? It sounds to me like a case of gentrification has happened in Leeds, and perhaps the salaries for the civil service has been stagnant for the last 20 odd years, which means the original people that you loved / worked with, moved out from the inner city donkey's years ago. The local government civil service has therefore to find replacements, hard working employees (and low 8$$ sucker contractors) who were prepare to commute and do the work. What do you prefer then fella? Harry Kane or Eberechi Eze

I don't know, I admit I never lived or worked in Leeds. I had a holiday fling with a girl from Leeds decades ago and I think I visited for a brief interview for some mad banking contract consultancy 15 years ago. Never got it, I think it was called ABGI consulting, BAGI, SGI or something.
    Probably BJSS.

If you look at the leadership team portfolios of most consultancies, small to mid-level businesses, then you can tell me, if there has been progress. Even when you look at IT conferences where professionals are speaking, I don't see change: same old faces like Talking Heads (Same as it ever was). I admit this evidence is anecdotal as in common sense.
Black people are under represented in IT. Asians are not so I don't think discrimination is the issue.

Think you've lost your last brain cell seeing this and you need an urgent intervention.

Anyone writing a novel as a side hustle while looking for the elusive IT role please take note and take a screenshot of this as it is truly comedy gold...

Best laugh I've ever had on a forum.

Can't quote the names as these are real life people. in my most recent job I had dealings with the Home Office and all names bar one were Middle eastern/muslim, African/Indian. It was an eye opener, so you are talking tosh. It was a case of spot the white person you would not think this was a UK office, it felt surreal as I had actually worked at the Home Office two decades ago and the change is phenomenal I was shocked, really shocked at the speed of replacement.

Dunno about too old, but B&Q have a policy of employing us old coffin dodgers in their stores in preference to callow youths...
