Personally, I'd much prefer to be governed by people who've done jobs that help people than those whose sole motive was to enrich themselves. There's a greater likelihood that they'll make decisions that are genuinely intended to benefit the country as a whole, not just themselves and their wealthy chums or backers.
Best they have managed was is his ex wife was German..
I love this idea that only the truly saintly can possibly run a government fairly, Jeremy Hunt was hated by the left when he tried to fix the NHS. Starmer is in the middle of a mess of his own making, Angela claimer has honesty issues with her CV etc. I assume you loved Maggie who truly believed and walked the walk.Last edited by vetran; 13 January 2025, 18:29.

Although of course, as long as being a political advisor is a "real" job, perhaps it wouldn't help that much!

I had a little lookie into after dinner speakers fees.
Truss is charging this much.
https://gothamartists.com/liz-truss/
(Venus Williams costs more.)
Other former politicians are with a different agency who charge a lot less but I know that they actually get bookings.
I do hope Truss takes someone to court. It would be like Wagatha Christie again but with a lettuce standing in for Truss.
