This is a rather interesting intervention / experiment. It'll be good to see how successful it turns out to be.

As a non-smoker it's quite easy for me to be in favour of this - nasty dirty habit and all that. But if it were booze I'd be up in arms about "you have no right". Although telling me "you can have booze but nobody currently under 18/16/etc will be allowed to when they get older" might blur the argument. Easier to decide what's best for other people

Not sure if booze or sugar is currently regarded as the bigger threat in the west, though obviously booze contributes to obesity as well as all its other bad effects.

The UK collects £10 billion a year tax from fags, if they banned them overnight there would be a lot of lost revenue.
