Probably apocryphal, but way back when it was commonly (well, in the IT community) rumoured that any site in the UK running a Cray was automatically a Soviet SS20 target - the theory being that HMG/MoD would take them over in times of trouble and taking them out would render HMG even more ineffective...

For my first 10 years as a contractor I resented taking time off. For the next 10 years I regretted not taking more time off.
One rule I had - make it worthwhile as it's already costing you more than a permie: to your taste: stay in the best hotel/villa, business/first class travel, good...
