I spoke to my solicitor about this, and his view was that, if this does end up in court, it may actually work in the contractors favour for the matter to be fully examined rather than quietly settled.
His reasoning was that there appear to be significant inconsistencies in the paperwork...

My 'loan' request from the portal was rejected once because I requested more than I put into the trust. They said I can't request more than I put in.
What kind of a 'loan' is that? Still got the reply from the umbrella when I queried why my request got rejected. They said it's got to be less than...

Spoke to FCA today. They've had a fair few people contacting them about this in the past week.
Emailed them last week and got callback today.
I have been asked to forward the letter they have sent, and also the demand for payment as soon as I receive it.
First letter just sent to FCA....
