I think that they were going to use the quantity of documents and the solicitor’s letter to make people think that there was a legitimate case against them, and to frighten them into simply paying up without getting legal advice first.
That’s it.

Ask AI about the history of this claim, it should go back to IoM schemes. If it doesn’t you may have wasted your money....

It is VERY likely that these loans were not consumer loans - the loans were an employee benefit and not subject to any consumer credit law.
